Customer Reviews
Actually does what it says
I never review apps, but the reviews above largely seem to mistake what this app does.
This app will verbally pronounce the exact text that you type in to it in a voice of the language you select. It will not provide translations for you.
This has been perfect for me as I have lost the ability to speak and was struggling to wait for people to realise I'd typed something for them to read before I could participate in conversations; this app means that I can do it myself.
The only limitations are that there's a 100character limit, and that it only has the option for a British male voice (ideally a female voice would be able to speak for me as I'm a girl). But seriously, these are not complaints at all as this is the only thing that I've found which does what I needed it to do and is free.
A huge thank you to the developer, I can't tell you how enabling this app has been for me. But if you do decide to develop the app further, an option for voice gender and more characters being allowed would be enormously helpful. Thank you!
Good little app
I initially couldn't get this to speak but then realised you need to select the language even if you want the default language of English. Once I did this it started speaking what I'd written. It does have a few pronunciation issues. iPhone users can turn on the speak settings for messages to do the same thing with no character limitations.
Does what it says on the tin!
Nice little free app...works perfectly well. And for all those saying it won't tell you how to say "hello" in Italian or whatever...that's because it's NOT a translator, nor does it claim to be...you type something in and it will say it in whichever language voice you pick. No more, no less.
