Ratings and Reviews
Brilliant concept, worst app design I've ever experienced
The concept and execution of the ability to view different frames on my own face is fantastic. This is more than made up for by the excruciating app design and basic usability flaws that make it virtually unusable. If you perform a search then select a frame, there is no way of getting back to the search results and you have to start all over again. From the search results the only way of getting back to the selection screen is by scrolling to the bottom of what could be a very long list. Search is limited - I want to be able to search for my existing glasses so that I can compare them with others but I can't. And the pièce de résistance is that when you create a profile (a picture of your face) the instructions on the screen tell you that to delete the profile, you need to delete the app and re-install it! WTAF?
There have been no updates to this app for almost a year so I'm not hopeful that any of these issues will be resolved any time soon. This is a bit of a PR problem for Specsavers as it reflects very poorly on them. So, avoid the app and go into the store. Or find a different opticians whose app actually works.
Good idea and works POOR controls
I agree with the other reviewer who said the idea is good and you can see the glasses effectively but the what a shame that the main, and frankly fatal, flaw comes with basic navigation across the structure of the app; you cannot go back and there is no way to access any other menu. You can go further in to the information about the glasses you're viewing (or back to more glasses in the same category). You can book an appointment and see store details but it's very frustrating and limiting. When you've set the avatar image thinking it's fine, once you've used the app, there's no way to adjust your scanned avatar head and I'd guess most people would want to make some slight adjustments. All Specsavers need to do in order to make this app quite wonderful it is to go back to basics with navigation and perhaps test the app on users before releasing it. Basics! 101 people, 101.
Still loading...taken 40 mins so far
A great concept as others have said, but absolute rubbish.
Go to Specsavers website and look at frames on there, that way you have an idea what frames you want to try in store. I’m not exaggerating when I say it would be quicker for me to do this and go to the store, than wait for the app to load.
Just made a cuppa before finishing this review...still loading, over an hour now! So to continue, certain places on screen return you to a previous page, however these aren’t labelled and I only found out when my cat decided to knock my phone away and hit the screen. Before that I was closing and reopening the app, how hard is it to install a ‘back’ label. Want to delete your profile? You need to delete then reinstall the app to do that. What were they thinking releasing this?
Also they need to load the frames in blocks rather than all at the same time. At least that way you could try a few while the next block of frames is loading.
I’m trying really hard to think of a positive so I can be fair. The face recording part works well and has clear instructions, which is as much use as a chocolate teapot when you can’t progress to the purpose of the app.
Specsavers...you need to bin this app or sort it!
