An exceptionally high-quality, interactive game designed by Speech and Language Therapists/Pathologists to help children learn listening and language skills, from the authors of Receptive Language Assessment with Splingo, Pronouns with Splingo, Categories with Splingo and Actions with Splingo apps.
With thousands of different word and sentence possibilities, as well as US or UK voice options, Splingo the alien’s spoken instructions will guide your child through a galaxy of language learning.
Your child will practise their listening and language skills by interacting with the images and animations on the screen to follow Splingo the alien’s spoken instructions. As a reward, they will love helping Splingo build a space ship and complete the tasks in order to get him home. His hilarious animated responses will capture your child’s imagination.
Splingo’s instructions range from a very early level of language development, e.g. single word recognition, to much more complex, e.g. instructions combining several aspects of language at once.
A guide to the levels:
•Level 1 -contains instructions of 1 main word and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 18 months onwards, e.g. “find the apple”
•Level 2 - contains instructions of 2 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 2-3 years, e.g. “find the red apple”
•Level 3 - contains instructions of 3 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 3- 4 years and upwards, e.g. “find the big red apple”
•Level 4 - contains instructions of 4 main words and is suitable for children at a developmental level of about 4 years and upwards, e.g. “give the big red apple to the boy”
While your child is experiencing an entertaining, motivating game, you can be reassured that they are learning a variety of different aspects of language, including naming words (nouns), action words (verbs), location words (prepositions), description words (adjectives), e.g. color, size and much more!
The game is completely customisable so you can create a combination of levels and word types to suit your child’s developmental level.
"The children all love Splingo...especially the encouraging words (yep, yep, yep, ooh whoo etc!) and the rocket! The pace is great for speech/language delayed children."

Ratings and Reviews
My kids love this app. It gives a "reward" at the end of each section, it's simple to use and plays like a game. It's helped with listening skills and following instructions.
Excellent educational app!
I bought this app for my 2 and a half year old son as he loves the other apps we have from the same company (he's a big fan of Activity Farm!). He's been playing Splingo for a few days now and loves it! It's a good way of learning vocabulary as well as words like on, under, next to and so on. It's great value as there are lots of levels and the degree of complexity can be changed to suit your child and then increased as your child's comprehension develops. The fact that it's been developed by speech therapists gives me confidence that he's learning as he plays. It is also interesting for me to see what he currently understands. My little boy loved the little Splingo character and the fact that you build a rocket and then see it take off as you get more answers right! The game is long enough to be worth the money but not so long that he got bored - it held his attention throughout. He's already getting better at listening to the instructions and now waits for the whole sentence before pressing the right answer. It's also a great way for little ones to get used to the touch screen on an iPad or iPod. My one year old also said "oooh" at the rocket so I think we have another fan in the making! All in all, highly recommended!
SUPERB SPEECH THERAPY APP
I can't praise this enough: my son was diagnosed with severe autism and was non verbal. In the year and a half it took the NHS to actually come up with the speech therapist he was entitled to, I used apps like Talking Tom to get him going - but THIS app is designed by speech therapists to build up his understanding of simple instructions by learning the difference between big/small/medium, in/on/behind etc and of course for any app to appeal to a child it has to have great graphics: my son adored the whooshing of the rocket when he got to each level, which motivated him more. Possibly the best feature, however, is the ability to choose different voices depending on whether you want an English Accent or an American one etc. this was also not an annoying app to have in the background: it isn't audibly intrusive. This meant my son was able to sit and play with it in public - which meant we could actually go out on public! As a footnote to parents facing the same journey: 4 years later my son is fully integrated into mainstream education, is a brilliant reader and writer and never stops talking: never give up hope.
