SQLite Client by SQLPro 4+

I need a tool to look at Core Data DBs which are based on SQLite - this app works for that and fills my needs well.

I had an issue (my issue not the apps!) where I needed a little bit of support from the developer and this was provided via email promptly and accurately. FWIW, my issue was with Security Scoped Bookmarks which is why I said its not app related.

A useful tool and I now own both SQLPro Studio from thsi developer as well...

I use it to run SQL queries on the DB for my (also great) accounting app. For my purposes I could not wish for better. SQL queries can be stored, edited and organised within the app, syntax highlighting colour scheme is excellent. Queries can be exported (I use .csv) so I can manipulate the data to produce the reports I need.

Maybe more importantly, Kyle Hankinson (the dev) is simply first rate. Support requests get friendly and skilful replies within hours at max, the occasional bug gets immediate attention. Wish all App Store devs were this driven and professional.

After a rather dodgy first release, this app has improved dramatically to the point that I have now mostly switched from using Base to this tool for SQLite work.

One area where the app is still rather weak is the data insert mode - it pops up a dialogue and one has to click on each field name, click down ot the value field, enter the value then click up onto the next field name. (Base also make sme do this)

Far better would be to adopt the approach used by Sequel Pro (not the same app despite the similar names) - data entry there is in-row based making row creation and editing much, much quicker - however Sequel Pro currently only supports MySQL. Both SQL Pro and Base do support in-row editing of existing data, so presumably this approach could be added by the developers.

Note: contrary to an earlier version of my review, this app does support trigger and FK constraint editing - these options are accessed via the small icons on the index section of the schema view. Apologies to the dev for having stated otherwise.
