I'm Justin. I moved to Japan in 2002 and I'm married to my Japanese wife (lovingly called "Spellchecker"). I've taken the JLPT tests up to N1 (yes, I was there) using this app. I speak, read and write Japanese fluently and I'm an overactive developer who can't sit still.
Fix for browse crash.
Ratings and Reviews
I love this app!!
Very pretty app, with a colour coding system to highlight how well (or not!) you know that particular kanji. The card changes the colour when you identify he kanji correctly and eventually it makes its way to green! The app is very easy to use and intuitive, there's lots of information available but the user interface is brilliant, the cards aren't cluttered with excessive additional info, the extra details only appear if you wish to see them.
You can see how many times you got the card right or wrong, and the progress screen is always available, to encourage you during the study session.
You can also create new flash cards with vocabulary you need to review, there is a useful dictionary with human voice reading the word for a correct and natural pronunciation. And so much more!! This is a beautiful app that helped a lot in my study for JPLT! Highly recommended!!!
Really useful app
I bought this on a whim and didn’t really expect much but it’s been incredibly helpful in learning kanji and vocab, really recommend it.
Excellent functionality and looks
I'm extremely happy with this app. Having used a number of flashcard apps for studying Japanese (I passed JLPT N2 for what it's worth) I think this is the best overall package available. The features I like most are: the included wordlists, the native speaker audio, and the document reader.
A lot of people like Anki, which I also own and have used extensively, but personally I would say Sticky Study is better in both looks and functionality than the iOS Anki app. The only advantage with Anki is the desktop version, which is more powerful than what can be done on iOS at the moment.
So, if you are seriously studying Japanese and will be based on iOS, I would recommend you get this app.
It is easy to see that a lot of work has gone into this app, so I think it is well worth the price. The developer is very responsive, quickly replies to email, and has passed JLPT N1! It would be great to see a MacOS version in the future.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
