We regularly update Stocard in order to improve the app for you!
In this version we fixed a problem with the automatic adjustment of the screen brightness. We also fixed an issue affecting older OS versions. Additionally, we improved the app's localisation.
As always, we also worked on the app's speed as well as overall performance and stability. Of course we also added new loyalty programs.

I do like the app
I do like the app and it has been of great benefit to me, as I do not have to carry so many Loyalty Cards with me.
It is true though that in the UK, it does not work with Boots Loyalty Scanners, as a couple of Boots Stores Managers informed me that their In-Store scanners do NOT work with Third party apps.
However, being a persistent person, I persevered with my other two LOYALTY CARDS (Sainsburys’& Tesco’s) and discovered that one of the KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL SCANNING was to give the STOCARD app permission to access your camera (not just for taking a pic of the front and back of your card to store on the app, should you so wish, BUT also), so that it could adjust the brightness of the front screen of your iPhone when it’s time for a Scanner to read the details of your Loyalty card.
AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, I discovered that traditional scanners can NOT read the details and ONE NEEDS TO REQUEST A HANDHELD SCANNER (they’re more technologically capable) to be used to read one’s Loyalty Card Details off one’s phone! - I’ve found this last step in particular works again & again without fail, unless there is NO HANDHELD SCANNER or it has stopped working. In that case, one’s details need to be manually entered at the Customer Services Desk on presentation of one’s validated receipt.

So far so good. I’ve just started to use Stocard after seeing it recommended on The Martin Lewis Road Show. Set up could not have been easier, all I had to do was scan most of my loyalty cards and my number for each one was there. 3 of my cards did not have bar or QR codes so I had to enter them manually. I’ve used Stocard on my iPhone in Tesco and Costa and been credited with the appropriate points. My wallet is now considerably slimmer and lighter because I have fewer cards in it. I would definitely recommend this free app.

Since posting my original review I have had the opportunity to use Stocard several times. Some stores technology is not up to date. Nevertheless I have been able to use Stocard and the assistant has just been required to tap my loyalty card number into their till. I no longer have to care 10 different cards in my wallet and often I don’t even have to take my wallet out as I am able to use Stocard and Apple Pay. Stocard is a fantastic addition to my life and I love it.

NAME the store & location where it does/does not work
I have just downloaded this app because it's a great idea but the mixed reviews makes me doubtful about its usefulness, particularly as the positive reviews are short on hard facts, and the negative reviews have named and shamed the IT illiterate stores and staff, so clearly know what they are talking about.
Both the app developers and reviewers should name the places where it works/does not work, including name and location to help others assess before downloading. Or the developer could maintain a viewable directory of store locations where users have confirmed it works.
The developers should refrain from making glib responses to reviewers such as "you went to stores that have old technology", when the reviewer named Tesco, Sainsbury, Boots as the places of failure- These make up >70% of UK high street stores and the most relevant, if it doesn't work at these popular locations then the app is not ready or fit for use for its intended purpose, making it illegal to sell without refund guarantee.
The stores of course are also seriously at fault, not least because of their ignorance and lack of cooperation in the digital age, and almost acting anti-competitively by not allowing app developers to offer this service as an alternative to the stores' bulky plastic. Perhaps case law to be made here, as it's in the public's interest for the app to be allowed to work, and stores to cooperate.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We are aware of the inconvenience for our users if their digital loyalty cards in Stocard cannot be scanned at popular UK stores, such as Boots or Sainsbury's. Unfortunately, we have no control over a store's decision to update their cash systems to image-based scanning devices which can easily scan smartphone displays. We will definitely think about your idea to create and maintain a directory of store locations so that you can check whether Stocard has worked at a specific store in the past and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience in the meantime. Additionally, we would like to inform you that Stocard is and always will be completely free of charge for our users, so no selling process takes place when you download our app.
