Awful for Apple watch

I like so many others could not wait for STRAVA and Apple watch to come together. I am a keen runner who uses all the data collected from my watch/device to analyse my runs and use that data to improve. If you are the same as me then STRAVA for Apple watch is not for you. For starters it is shockingly slow! There is no way I could use this for an actual race or event as there is some serious lag from loading the app on Apple watch to selecting the workout and then when you finally press "outdoor run" nothing happens for about 5-8 seconds?!?!. Secondly... It is incredibly inaccurate! I run between 3 & 5 times a week and at least 25% on those runs will have been recorded incorrectly. I have just come in from a 2 mile cool down jog and the watch app said the miles were abourd about 09:01 and 08:59 per mile pace. I get home upload the watch data to Strava on my iPhone and it now says I just averaged 07:59 perile for 2 miles. The data from Strava Apple watch does not match the data that finally ends up on Strava on my iPhone.
Don't get me wrong, I want to love this app and I so badly want it to work well with my Apple watch but it simply doesn't and I fear that I may be returning to Nike very soon. Please STRAVA sort it out.

Oh and by the way I have raised these issues with STRAVA numerous times and to this day I have not had one single reply 🤷🏻‍♂️

This app has genuinely taken my running experience to the next level

I have been a Strava member for nearly two years and am extremely impressed with it. I am a runner, so the review is from that point of view. I mainly use the phone app, but also use the full version on their website, normally when needing a feature that is not on he phone app.

Why do I rate Strava? This is more than just somewhere to log your runs, it is an engaging and encouraging community. The recent push for “no curation” struck a chord with me. Unlike Facebook, where everyone has perfect holidays, perfect children, perfect anniversary presents from their husband, what you get here is raw and honest. With that you get to see that everyone has off days and it can really motivate you. Another reason I like it is that I’ve never paid a penny and have got considerable benefit. Hopefully I’ve generated revenue for Strava by encouraging people to join the community.

Why do I rate the app? The key functionality is here and it works, for the most part, very well. The feed is good now that I’m used to it being ordered by most recent upload.

What would I improve? I would improve the segment search feature as I struggle to find segments on the phone even when I know they’re there (having cross-referenced with the full version). I’d also like to be able to see routes, but I appreciate that there’s only so much you want in an app.

For what it’s worth, I am currently using this app on an iPhone 8.
