It’s time to connect, understand and take control.

Not fit for purpose
I have a sure flap cat flap in my French doors that works well so thought I’d upgrade to the sureflap connect. Be warned - it does not make it clear in the advertising that this may not work when installed in a patio door that has metal round the seal even though the old sureflap worked absolutely fine in the same hole. The issue was with the sureflap not always letting my cat in - it lets her out but not in! Customer service has told me quite clearly that this is down to metal in the door frame round the flap - that’s a standard seal for a double glazed door .
Other major issues are: the app doesn’t always send me updates - I came home early worried that my cat hadn’t come home in 6 hours to eat or drink (or so the app made it appear) to find her sitting in the middle of the living room! When it updates it freezes and even when I try to reset it at home it doesn’t work and I have to go onto customer services and get them to remotely access my hub.
I really wanted to love this because it meant I could remotely lock the door, but this isn’t fit for purpose and I feel totally conned because the website made it look like this should be a simple substitution for my old sureflap. I’m sending it back before the 30 days are up. A huge disappointment.
Developer Response ,
The Cat flap has a special mode that should help if it is installed in metal and control the interference. We can put it into this mode remotely, please contact us and we can help you with this.
I am sorry to hear about your experience so far with the app, what you are experiencing is not what we would expect, if you are still having these issues, please email us at email@example.com
So promising but the app lets it down!
I’ve used Sureflap for years and have recommended them to everyone I know that has cats. I was very excited when the new “microchip cat flap connect” was announced, despite our current setup working perfectly. I upgraded to the connect version the day it was released and was very impressed at first. However, I soon came to realise that the app lets it down. Almost every time I try to start the app, I just get a white screen. I have to kill the app and restart, and sometimes this needs repeating before it loads. Then recently the push notifications stopped working.
Once the problems have been fixed, it would also be nice if Siri integration could be added to allow quicker control of the app. Also a quicker way of marking pets in or out would be handy (either from Control centre, today view/lockscreen, or using Siri). Or better still, give us an API to allow other function integration?
Until such revisions, I wouldn’t recommend spending the extra money on something that isn’t as sleek and convenient as advertised.
I had a few issues at the beginning as it wasn’t recognising my cats going in and out so they sent me a new one which is great now. Always get notifications when either one are going out or coming in so I can tell when coming home from work if they are in or out which has been so valuable, as at one time it said my cat was in but couldn’t find her, I persevered and eventually found her stuck upside down in a box and couldn’t get out 😳so if I hadn’t persevered believing the notification that she was inside I don’t know how this could have ended 😄👍 so yes going well but do have to cancel and re install the app a lot as when you click on it nothing happens and a blank page, can this be corrected by any chance ?? 👍😄
