More time sorting syncing than running
I have had a Suunto Ultra watch for eighteen months now and love it. The software updates install easily and the watch has been able to meet all of my expectations except when connecting to the apps.
The frustration of dealing with a support service that doesn’t do as it promises, call backs and updates on requests is without equal. I have been to involved in the beta testing of movescount and haven’t been able to upload data to Strava and share with my cycling group and haven’t been able to establish when I will be able to. Movescount looks so similar to Sports Tracker as to be a clone and I begin to wonder why I have bothered for eighteen months to have this product to help me monitor my training. I could easily do the same with products costing half as much and get better integration to apps
Up your game or lose customers
The app is generally ok and is really only let down by crazy long upload times. Access to more of the data and charts from the website would improve it but the most significant improvement would be the ability to create custom routes on the maps part of the app like on the website. The support from Suunto has been good for when runs haven’t uploaded properly. Thankfully this is rare. The ability to customise the watch faces directly on the app is great.
They need to get their privacy act together.
There is no privacy statement within the app.
You can only unlock the majority of device features by connecting the device to Movescount. And, you must be online to connect your device to the software.
As a user, there are no configurable privacy setting, such as storing training data “offline only”. Think of the embarrassment of Strava.
Shame on Suunto for refusing to be open and upfront about the data they are collecting, how they are using it, who they are providing access to (Uncontrolled app developers, research bodies etc) and refusing to provide citizens with any control.
