Superior in every way!
After moving to apple from andriod a couple of years ago I downloaded the SwiftKey keyboard app. It was terrible and had very little support on iphone with the keyboard failing to pop up etc. However, I decided to give it another go this year (2016) and it has gone back to its best! The support is there for 99% of areas and I didn't realise how much I missed the swipe feature and how much better SwiftKeys predictive text is than the apple keyboard! It's amazing. Only thing I would like to see is a replica iOS keyboard skin either for free or for sale. As there is a limited number of keyboard skins available at the moment. I would also like to see force touch implemented into this keyboard better as it currently doesn't use the feature at all.
Totally worth the download - give it a chance and you will be typing so much quicker in days.
Update as of January 2017: after trying every keyboard on my iphone I am finding SwiftKey to be the best. I don't understand some of the negative reviews on here. I have had zero problems with SwiftKey since using it about a year ago. I'm using an iPhone 6s. It is still the go to keyboard on the iPhone and should be given a chance to prove itself.
Update as of November 2017:
Afted a number of changes SwiftKey is back at the the ultimate ios keyboard! Now only if we could have SwiftKey access for lock screen and entering passwords, I would be soo happy!
Still needs a lot of work
I find it frustrating that this far into machine learning there doesn't seem to be a keyboard that allows for consistent, fast typing on a small (iPhone 5) screened touch device
Main problems that still cause me a lot of grief are replacing a word (correctly typed) with a similar word (presumably because I use it more) e.g at the moment it seems to be replacing 'food' with 'good' whenever I type it.
Sometimes incorrectly spelled words aren't corrected or are split into several small words or a much longer word, which seems silly as obviously if I didn't hit the spacebar twice then I wasn't intending to write three separate words, and if I tapped 5 letters I wasn't trying to write an 8 letter word
There doesn't seem to be much adaptation to learning acronyms or abbreviations (e.g. etc). Would think this would be quite easy to programme.
The swipe function is great for one handed typing, but other than this i'm not sure that this keyboard leads to less errors or faster overall composition than the stock iPhone keyboard. I certainly wouldn't pay for it at the moment. I long for the day when I can pay for something that will allow me to carry a small device on my pocket and write away without having to check every message for typos and stupid autocotrect errors.
Almost perfect! 🙄
I moved to SwiftKey a few years back and when I first got it, I was well impressed. Yes there was the odd auto correct problem but it was minor and rare.
Unfortunately the developer seems to have done something which now means that there is massive auto correct issues. In some cases I'm spending longer correcting the errors than I would if I just typed the words normally. I'm about to ditch it and move to try Google's keyboard unless it's sorted.
"This is a pathway of text without me correcting anything just so you can see how much of it is actionable incorrect. This kind of error is becoming more and more common in my texting. I am sweeping at my normal speed so you can see this as a real test. Bloody typical, as soon as I start to try and prove the issue is boys making as many errors.!!"
