SwordSoft Layout 4+

The only thing that put me off was the font choice in app. Nearly any good web designer is allergic to comic sans MS. It can be changed for some elements but not for all of them. That aside, this is really useful for quick layout ideas or side-by-side with clients. Really easy to use and well thought out. I would like all elements to snap to grid as well, they don't seem to snap when there is an element below them.

I wanted to be able to mock-up a website / create a wireframe, so I took a look at what was available on the Mac App Store. SwordSoft Layout looked like it had what I needed, but there was no demo available, and I was in two minds because nobody likes wasting £5…

I needn’t have worried. This is a superb tool for mocking up and wire framing. It is top-quality - pretty much matching the quality of apps produced by large software houses. I particularly like the ability to mock-up links, and export as an HTML package; this allows you to run the wireframes from an browser and have it simulate real use.

I hope the developer continues to add features, for example a bit more control over the look and feel of every control (this is already excellent, but could be more universally applied in a consistent manner). The last update was six months ago, so it still looks like it is actively being nurtured.

And as for the price, £4.99 is extremely fair and excellent value. Read the other reviews - I think many people agree. Highly recommended.

Seems to work. Had a quick play and was able to mock something up without bothering to read the instructions. Can’t knock it for the price.
