Hands down best app ever!

I never write reviews for anything but i felt this app deserves to be reviewed after all it was other people reviews that made be buy it. I only started learning the bass at the end of feb this year and i was picking tabs up ok, but since finding this app in march/april I have came such a long way and can play loads of tunes now as its so easy to read and you can hear where you are meant to be playing and at what speed compared to reading tabs which can be daunting for beginners. I love that you can turn all the other instruments down just to hear the one you want or turn them off all together. I use this app almost every day weather its just listening to the tabs on the train home or sitting with the bass as i seem to take it in so much quicker than reading tabs on sheets, although in saying this i now have a better understanding of picking tabs up off the sheets due to seeing how they work in this app if this makes sense...... any ways this is a brilliant app weather you are a pro or a beginner, its the best £6 iv ever spent and it has helped me prove my husband wrong that i would stick in with the bass after buying two guitar over 6 years and not sticking with it.....ill be a rock chick yet ;)

A "killer app" for guitarists

A friend kindly gifted this app to me, and I have to say that it is magnificent. The entire design is very intuitive and user-friendly, and it really does what it sets out to do in a way that, frankly, could not be better. The app is literally only limited by the quality of the tabs that you out into it, if you have good source material then you will not find a better way to view or use them.

The developers also deserve praise for offering the upgrade to universal for free, rather than putting it out as a separate iPad app, and they are very quick to respond to emails. I sent a suggestion for a very minor improvement I would like to see (minor because it is just about perfect already), and I got a friendly and lengthy reply by the next day.

Every aspiring guitar player needs this on their iDevice, it's fantastic no matter your level. As a novice, being able to slow the tempo right down while I play along is wonderful. The fretboard display at the bottom of the screen also works as a built in chord dictionary as well. I see an upcoming chord is a D7, I can simply tap the screen to pause the scrolling, then tap in the part of the song where the chord I want to look up is, and there at the bottom of the screen is all the instruction I need regarding where my fingers should be.

If you are a musician of any level, this is the very definition of a killer app.

A great app for viewing guitar pro tabs

NOTE TO READERS: YOU CAN ADD FREE TABS EITHER WITH A COMPUTER OR WITHIN THE APP ITSELF!

I installed this app on an iPad 1, which I intend to use as an electronic music book. The app was attractive to me because it can display and play gpx files, but was almost half the price of guitar pro’s own app. As I have no intention of editing tabs from my iPad (far too fiddly), I decided to try the cheaper option. Files open quickly (both on the iPad and my iPhone 5s) and the interface is intuitive, if not idiot-proof (see the 1* reviews of the current version for details).

I added about 40 of my own (FREE) guitar pro files by selecting ‘download’ in the app and pointing my computer’s web browser to the ip address displayed on the iPad’s screen. This brought up a simple to use interface in my computer’s web browser that allows you to add both guitar pro and text files. Transfer was quick and painless, and seems to work provided you can follow simple written instructions (i.e. be on the same wireless network and don’t navigate away from the download screen on the iPad until upload completes). I have not tested adding tabs inside the app itself, but it appears to operate as a normal web browser (mine brings up google).

In summary - a neat app for viewing and playing guitar pro files on the move.
