I have been using Tesco international cards for a while now. In a last 6-8 months I’ve noticed that not only call connection is very poor now but also that my conversations get recorded and replayed to me midway through the call!
For the other person on the line the call just drops whilst I get replayed their conversation from the start of the call. At the start, it was very confusing, as I just continued the conversation wondering why they are asking me the same questions again. This is quite worrying and I am sure is illegal!
As it started happening more frequently and the replay of the recording started earlier on in the phone call, I complained to their customer services. They took more than a week to respond. Only to say they refunded me a few pennies where they saw I had short phone calls and that I can use the app in 48hours. No explanation to why that’s happening and the reasons for recording conversations. I used it again after a few days and it happened again within the first 2 minutes of the call!
I will be complaining to Ofcom.

I’ve been using this for a few months since o2 stopped their app for international calling (which was brilliant and cost effective)
At the beginning the Tesco one was good, reception to Poland wasn’t the best.
Then after a couple of months, it started cutting me off and when I tried to call back it wouldn’t let me. Made me feel embarrassed and had to then text my grandmother that I didn’t hang up on her, something is wrong with the app I’m using.
Today I tried ringing her and it says I have no monies on the account which is incorrect as I had just under £5 last time I rang and it also said my account was deactivated.
I would contact Tesco but having tried before, I’d had more luck getting blood out a stone and then calling the dead before Tesco do anything. 🤬
This app used to be good but for a while now it’s been terrible!! When you’re making call and put the phone close to your ear it doesn’t go dark. Your ear end pressing different buttons. The reception has been very poor and when you try to make another call it tells you that your card is being used please contact customer services; even though your card is not being used. I really think the developers need to go back to the drawing board and fix a lot of these issues and more!!
