Ratings and Reviews
I think the search function works pretty well, but the customer journey is odd in terms of when you are prompted to reserve a slot before you’ve filled your basket.
There are bounce outs when you want to change from Delivery to Click and Collect, and you are forced to ‘try’ click and collect to move to the next step.
The app does seem a bit ‘buggy’ and my first experience resulted in waiting in for a delivery slot, only to be told 10 minutes into the hour that the ‘order has been cancelled due to a technical fault’... the messaging around when you can reorder is confusing (and you can’t select the ‘cancelled’ order to reorder automatically)... a £10 voucher discount was given, which is a bonus, but it doesn’t build too much confidence that your ordered items will be fulfilled on time if you are relying on items to a deadline.
There is a disappointing gap between what you can do on ‘my account’ in the app versus having to log in to the main site (e.g. to manage addresses) and even when you do that, there is a lost link if you leave my account to look at club card... you can’t get back directly to where you left my account (and I cannot see for certain that my club card details are linked properly to my grocery account.
The app could benefit from some thoughtful reviews of the entire customer journey from browse to purchase through to reliable fulfilment.
App is good but behind the competitors
The app is generally good and I do my shopping generally through here rather than on the website. However it is lacking behind the competition. A lot of other supermarkets offer reviews on products so customers can get an idea what others think of the product before purchasing.
Some apps also let you get a refund for certain goods I.e poor date, damaged goods etc that may have not been noticed on delivery, currently the process is having to phone up which can be a pain compared to pressing a few buttons.
Unrelated to the app but you should offer a service (again some of your competitors do) where if you pay for bags you give them back on your next shop and your credited back for returning the bags. Bags are generally much easier and then the items are sorted properly into different bags, it also saves the delivery driver having to bring the whole grates in which are often dirty.
Not the Greatest
When the app is working correctly it’s great, so easy and quick to just add shopping on the go. However, more cases then not, the app either does not load or is extremely slow making it less convenient. I find I then have to actually go onto Tesco grocery online and amend my shopping order that way. Improvements can be made to the app to make it better!
Also I am finding that when searching for items, I am forever facing ‘sorry product not available’ making it very difficult to complete a full shop. I use the delivery service due to having a 5 month old baby and struggle to balance the baby and doing the food shop in store! If by the little selection the app actually offers, I can only imagine my local Tesco to have completely empty shelves!
If this issue does not improve I will have to switch supermarkets and shop elsewhere as my partner is having to go grab the missing items we can not get from Tesco from another supermarket!
Plus side is that the staff are always super friendly and super helpful!
