Chocks Away Chaps! A secret weapon, an eccentric inventor, a daring mission and an elite Squadron – the story of the amazing bouncing bomb sounds like a Hollywood script but it actually happened.
“The Dambusters App offers an authentic experience that gives people an opportunity to interact with the legendary Operation Chastise raid.” - Wg Cdr Keith Taylor OC 617 Sqn

The Dambusters® is 3D flying game inspired by the famous WW2 mission.
Retina display devices are supported at full resolution!
To complete the mission you must fly through Holland to Western Germany, bomb the great dams of the Ruhr Valley and return to England. Each Lancaster Bomber carries a secret 4 ton weapon codenamed “Upkeep”, aka “ the bouncing bomb”.
As with the historical event, you will have only 19 aircraft (and 19 bombs) to destroy all three dams and the bombs must be dropped from an exact height and distance from the dam for the mission to succeed.
The three Dams, The Mohne, Eder and Sorpe, and their surrounding landscapes have been accurately re-created. Precision will be required to fly at extremely low level to reach the targets, drop the bomb (using the famous twin spotlights to gauge the height) and breach the dams.
Using smooth and intuitive tilt input to fly the plane, with multiple levels of difficulty to suit all abilities, The Dambusters® App will take players on a journey back to the night of May 16th 1943, recreating one of the most daring and iconic raids of the Second World War.
• Accurate 3D Landscapes for all three dams
• Realistic 3D Physics
• 4 levels of difficulty from Easy to Extreme
• Practice mode available for all three dams
• Mission Control is an immersive 3D retro-desktop
• NEW - Searchlights Added
• NEW - Damage causes engine fires
• NEW - Aircraft fragments on impact
• NEW - Improved fractal water shader

What's New in Version 1.4
Improved fractal water shader and fixed it for 64bit devices.
Great atmosphere, simple controls, good graphics and more replay value than you'd expect.
In 'practice' and 'easy' modes it would be nice to have a 'guide lines on/off' toggle button on the right, opposite the bomb release button, so you can practice flying without them.
Also, the priorities of the point scoring system are very weird. You can complete a mission without losing any planes, using the minimum of bombs... and get a lower score than you did on a previous, completely disastrous mission just because on that one you scored bonus points for flying under bridges, even though you lost pilots and wasted bombs (??). A complete breakdown of the results are listed in the log book (high score table) anyway, but it means you have to look through it to see what your truly best game actually was, because it probably won't be at the top where it belongs.
Would be nice to have some WRAFs in the background of the mission control room too ;) But now I'm getting finickety. This is a great game. Well done, chaps!
In a nutshell you fly low avoiding bridges, cranes and gunfire until you reach one of the 3 dams. You then have to release your bouncing bomb in the correct place to destroy the dam. Fail and you go back to the start using one of a limited number of planes and bombs you have to complete the mission.
Completed it in a couple of hours with all bonuses on easy. Although short it was quite enjoyable and of course the classic dam busters theme features on occasion. Expect I will return to play on other levels at some point. Overall, nothing to rave about and probably not too much longevity but hey, it's the price of a pint (up north). Developers have done a good job.
This is a fun game, easy to pick up how to 'fly' but challenging enough to keep you interested. A game you can drop in and out of in a spare 10 minutes, or play over a longer period of time.
I'm looking forward to more titles in a similar vein from this developer... How about more 617 missions, like sinking the Tirpitz, blowing up the railway viaduct, or putting the submarine factory out of action?
Thanks for many hours of entertainment!
