Hate to disagree

I don’t like to disagree however this isn’t anywhere as near as good as any of The Room series or House of DaVinci, or indeed a fair few other games out there. And it’s for the simple reason that there is absolutely NO logic in some of these puzzles. Also you have no idea when collecting multiples of items whether you’ve collected them all. The graphics, whilst good, cause their own issues and make it difficult to distinguish between something of interest or just blocky graphics. It reminded me of those dungeon trawling games from the 90s!! There are NO hints at all in the game so if you get really stuck you’re on your own kiddo. And if you’re rubbish at certain styles of puzzles like me I’ve yet to find an “ohh ffs I just can’t do this, help me out” button. I’ve been stuck on one puzzle for hours and I know I won’t be able to do it, I never can do those ones so I’m really stuck. I can see what was trying to be achieved but the end product looks rushed, unpolished and not much thought given to the end user. Frustrating and hard work to just keep randomly stumbling about hoping you’ll find something. When you’re relying on a walkthrough rather than the flow and workings of the game then i don’t think I’ll bother. If you enjoyed the room then you’ll be sadly disappointed.

Puzzling in the wrong ways sometimes...

In terms of production values this game is a knockout, it gets four stars just for that and any less would be unfair.
The minus star is for puzzle problems.

A lot of the more difficult puzzles here are difficult not because they’re tricky puzzles, but because of the purely visual obscurity of both the puzzles themselves and their solutions. Too often, what’s really needed to solve a puzzle isn’t the result of a thought process, but of eventually stumbling across the right unremarkable dot in the shadows to reveal it’s entirely unpredictable consequences. In those cases where logic is involved, it’s usually fairly straightforward by comparison. It’s sometimes less like an object-manipulation puzzle game (The Room) and more like a hidden-objects game which doesn’t reveal what the objects are until you’ve found them.

If, like me, you play a lot of these types of games and you enjoy puzzles, then finding that sheer persistence counts for more than logic can be both frustrating and boring, and when you find yourself randomly stabbing at the screen far too many times it isn’t unfair to lay at least some of the blame at the game designers’ doorstep.

I’m enjoying this as much as if not more than the room series, really nice storytelling mixed with good puzzles and a decent length and places to explore, I really wish there were more games like this and recommend it fully, trying to find this game on the App Store to review it meant searching its name as it wasn’t on any recommended pages anymore, instead you wade through heaps of utter rubbish, why this crap is advertised more than a good game like this is beyond me.
