The perfect egg timer with the incredible egg spy: from now on your eggs will be perfect.

Are you tired of eggs that are always too soft or to hard?
No matter where you are or how big your egg is - the perfect egg timer for perfect eggs is the solution!

The perfect egg-timer is based on scientific proof and because every egg is different, the timer calculates the exact cooking time based on egg size, altitude and temperature.

Usage: In order to measure the exact size of your egg, simply place it on your iPhone and set the size using your fingertip for. Determine your current altitude (or let it be determined by GPS), tell your iPhone if you kept your eggs in the freezer or at room temperature and how you would like to have your eggs – soft-boiled, hard-boiled or something in-between.

Place your eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Add enough cold water to just cover the eggs. Bring them to a rapid boil over high heat and start the countdown. The iPhone will signal when the eggs are done. The attraction: The egg spy lets you see the changes inside your boiling egg!

-the formula for the perfect egg-timer is based on physical experiments and studies

- Egg-size can be adjusted to the nearest millimetre (inch): Simply place the egg on the iPhone scale and set the size with your fingertip. It doesn’t get any more accurate than this.

- determine and enter your altitude manually or let it be determined by GPS automatically.
- The egg-spy shows you the inside of your egg during the cooking progress

Perfect eggs every time, whatever the size!

Not 'perfect'

This egg timer is useful if you're making hard boiled eggs. But not so, if u want soft boiled eggs. I just tried this app yesterday, after my husband requested for soft boiled eggs. I did exactly as told by instructions. Measured the egg with my fingertips, set temperature, looked up my location's altitude on google (cause the gps feature didnt seem to work; it took too long), then put 3 eggs in 1 layer in a pot, poured cold water and waited for it to come to a rapid boil before pressing start. I waited 3 mins according to the egg timer. But was dissapointed to find all 3 eggs had become hard boiled. I decided to try it again with another 2 eggs. Same procedure. Measured size, set temperature and altitude. Only this time i set it to in between liquid and soft-boiled, because i figured that the eggs were boiling for too long the last time. Same thing again. This time, the eggs didn't come out hard-boiled, but the yolk n white was still a tad overcooked that it couldnt be spread on toast. I tried it again and ended up wasting 9 eggs yesterday. This egg timer just didnt do what it said it would do.
I hope the developers can work on this. Things like, how much water should be added to the pot? Same cooking time for more than one egg in a pot? Should it boil on high heat for the entire duration?
This would be a handy and excellent app if it actually worked

You need to measure your egg on your iPhone's screen - the app even takes into account your height above sea level. The problem is that you need to start your super-accurate down-to-the-second timer, 'when the water starts boiling'. Now is that when the first bubbles appear, or when it reaches a rolling boil? The answer (after much experimentation with over- and under-cooked eggs) is that you need to start it when a few bubbles start appearing but not too many - a period of time with a about a +/- 45 second degree of accuracy.

So although you've measured your eggs to the mm and the app knows how high you are above sea level, all that nonsense is undone by the fact that starting your timer is fundamentally not an accurate process.

Far easier is to use the built-in timer countdown on your iPhone and set it to 4 mins for runny eggs, or 6 for hard, which produces precisely the same result for free.
