Ratings and Reviews
I’m not going to lie, this game is incredible. I like, many others, have always had a soft spot for the sims 2. I feel as though it is certainly the best out of the Sims series as it just has the most charming feel to it - it’s simple, but undeniably immersive at the same time. Although of course this app has it’s flaws, for example: it lacks a few of the best expansion packs (Apartment Life, Freetime etc.), difficulty to add modded content and other minor details, it is an impressive software and game to play with. When I first saw Aspyr had made the sims 2 compatible on mac (as previously it was Windows exclusive) I nearly died from a heart attack. Of course a few of the negatives I have previously listed leave me a bit deflated about this rendition, I truly believe the good outweighs the bad. If you are just a general lover of the gameplay of sims and the fun of just messing around, I 10/10 reccomend buying this. Furthermore, for such an amazing price point, it’s essentially a bargain. So, Aspyr, just add a few more expansions (of course at an extra price, can’t be getting cocky now) and an easier route of adding modded content and this game will be beyond 5 stars. Good job!
No longer compatible
When I opened this app for the first time, a message popped up saying the app needs to be updated to be compatible with the current macOS. I carried on regardless, hoping it wouldn’t matter but while I was playing the game for the first time, my mac got ridiculously hot. Eventually I had to stop playing because it was so hot. I closed the app and put my mac away. The next morning, when I tried to use my mac, it wouldn’t turn on at first (even though I hadn’t shut it down). At last it did turn on and a message came up saying it had shut down because of a problem. Once it started up, everything was running really slowly to the point that the mac wasn’t really usable. I tried rebooting but it didn’t help. The Sims app wasn’t open and hadn’t been since the previous night. I uninstalled The Sims and rebooted again and it fixed the problems straight away. I guess that’s the effect of the incompatibility - overheating, crashing, and other apps running slowly even when The Sims isn’t open. I’m gutted because I used to love The Sims and I was excited to get back into it. Sadly that won’t be possible. :’-(
I used to play this when i was around 7 till about 9 and i remember it always messing up our computer but i loved it so much! I had brought a few expansion packs to find they could never download. Now with a mac i thought i could never play it again and after having the sims3 pets on xbox which was just awful, im so glad to have found it here. Yes i may be a little old but the nostalgia this has brought me in the day or two uve had it has made me feel so happy! It downloaded with no issues and has been playing beautifully, with faster loading times than i remember etc. Love this and it is definetley worth the money, a great price and i have yet to explore all the features yet! If you loved it before you will love it now!
