What's New

Version 5.4.1

The best training app just got better. In addition to improved stability and performance, the latest version of the app for iOS, Windows, and macOS boasts a SUF-load of new features.

What's New:
*Elite, Tacx, and JetBlack smart trainer owners rejoice! We’ve expanded smart trainer control over Bluetooth for iOS and macOS to include all Tacx and Elite smart trainers, as well as the JetBlack WhisperDrive Smart. This allows the iOS and macOS versions of the app to automatically adjust the resistance of the trainer to match your power targets when you connect over Bluetooth.
*Do you use Final Surge or Today’s Plan to manage and track your training? Now you can link your accounts and instantly sync your Sufferfest activities to these platforms.
*We gave the video list a facelift to improve the way you navigate, sort, and filter videos so you can spend less time searching and more time getting faster.
*We’ve added support for the new Wahoo Fitness KICKR CLIMB, allowing the app to control the angle of the CLIMB to match the grade in our climbing videos.

Bug Fixes:
*Improved device connections via BTLE.
*Improved the stability and integrity of device connections via ANT+.
*Fixed the reporting of speed data from power devices connected via BTLE.

I quit Zwift

I had been using Zwift to train and my coach was uploading workouts to it for me to follow. It’s all good watching a computerised dude pedal through a virtual world but that’s it, there is no inspiration, no mix up of interval workouts and there certainly is no yoga or mental work out help. After hearing about 4DP testing I was curious and headed over to Sufferfest and signed up for a free trial. I did the 4DP test and found a massive weakness which I didn’t know I had that turned out to be the reason why my ftp would not increase despite my training attempts! After some emails to the very supportive team at Sufferfest I signed up to Sufferfest and even paid for a 12week customised training plan with Apex coaching. I have to say this is one of the best work out experiences I’ve ever had. Not just the boring 5min on 2min off and repeat robotic crap most coaches prescribe, but Sufferfest workouts that are interesting, motivating and dynamic. I love the way Sufferfest workouts pull you through the workouts and help you achieve what you thought you couldn’t. My plan with Apex is great, not just training but also lifting, yoga, and mental workouts to help me become a more rounded athlete.
If you are considering Sufferfest, don’t, just sign up as it’s the best training platform I’ve found and you won’t regret it.

Something to look back on...

SufferFest is an absolutely brilliant app. The videos set the scene (and story) for what is to come. You can decide to follow one of the set programmes - from beginner to expert - on the road, the hills or triathlon.

The intervals are challenging at your own level (based on your ‘Full Frontal’ fitness test, so that you will improve over time. You can call the coaches responsible whatever you want, but I would always call them ‘sir’, in case they devise an interval so devious that it is even more difficult than those already in place.

The videos are full of humour and encouragement and I always feel motivated by the images; I feel in the middle of the race!

There is a lot of information thrown at you, but it requires an investment in sensors (cadence and speed) or a turbo trainer with the sensors built in (mine is a dumb trainer, so I had to buy sensors, which I use on the road in the summer). For me, it was not put out by buying sensors.

I would recommend the app, and the associated programmes, to anyone interested in improving their fitness and with the science behind it, you can see your improvements over time.

Suffer in style!
