Very Poor App

This is a truly terrible news app. Surely the idea of an online newspaper is to replicate the experience of reading the actual publication. I want to be able to flick through the paper, stopping to read stories of interest and skipping past others. Instead, it is menu-driven, whereby there is a front page of "Top Stories" and after that you have to search for what you might be looking for in a myriad of categories. (And in whose world is an opinion column by Janice Turner about smartphones a "top story" ?! ) For the life of me I am not going to trawl through the "Education" section every day on the offchance that there may be a piece of interest concerning my childrens' schooling. Stories are assigned to multiple categories so if one did choose to painstakingly open one section after another, it would necessitate scrolling past the same item several times. Possibly worst of all, you have to go to a completely separate app for sport !

My other gripe is that there us no ability to read previous editions as you could on the iPad version.

In desperation I downloaded the Metro app this morning (nb free both online and on paper) and found it very user-friendly, super-quick to download and several archived editions available. The only problem is I don't really want to read the Metro !

Come on The Times, raise your game...

Poorly managed

I quite like the function of the iPhone version compared with the iPad version. Menu layout works for me. The app usually works fine. I do hate the erratic inconsistency of the news updating function but hey ho you get used to it. Sports function is unbelievably poor. And if there is anything that irritates the most it is having numerous feedback functions which, when you take the trouble to send some, you get no reply other than an acknowledgement email. Don't believe any claims that you can now email articles to friends - YOU CAN'T. There is plenty to like about this app so I will grudgingly stick with it, despite some painful inadequacies. Sort it out guys!

Another poor update

Astounding that the iPhone 6 is not fully supported in this app. The phone has been released 6 months so what's the reason?

This latest version has introduced instability with numerous crashes in addition to the app looking odd on an iPhone 6.

Poor effort all round with an established pattern of updates bringing either big improvements or utterly ruining it - seemingly nothing in between.
