What's New in Version 19
Almost every generation loves listening to Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, from his early new wave days to his pop/jazz/world music style he’s surely unforgettable. Of course renaming himself to Sting might have helped! So we’ve done some renaming of our own, the Me screen is now Favourites. Yes, it would be cool if we renamed it to Sting but that wouldn’t make sense. Renaming it to Favourites does, as thats where you’ll find your favourite journeys.
Don’t worry, our app still hits those high notes and the renaming helps us create more personalised features for you, some of which will be releasing very, very soon.
Spring has sprung
Lambs are jumping, birds are tweeting, trains are toot-tooting and our Vitamin D levels are recovering. Our sister app, Trainline Europe, has just added more discount tickets for Trenitalia in Italy – making it the perfect time for a spring break to Milan to update the wardrobe, or for good pizza, or both!
Of course, you could always grab a mobile ticket and head off to the York Railway Museum with the kids, see you there!
Have a safe and pleasant journey
The app is a must have for those using multiple routes on different franchises in the U.K. It simplifies train booking in the UK infinitely compared to what it was like before with multiple TOCs, which change over time as franchises are renewed. Trying to buy directly from train companies remains an over-complicated mission that makes you want to drive/fly.
To improve, it would be a better app if they could drag the UK train industry the next step - no long booking numbers to pick up tickets at machines in congested stations. Instead you should be able to buy the ticket through trainline and it comes directly to your phone. Barcodes/SQR codes, even a PDF. Sadly this isn't something the app can provide as it would require changing the entry barriers at stations etc.
Ok, so I can buy tickets easily and the option of Apple Pay is great if you're buying tickets for someone else (so they can collect without the purchaser's card). But, looking up the train stops is always wrong. It shows a completely different route to the ticket I've bought, every time. So you can't see the stopping stations and the destination often doesn't coincide with the ticket purchased. This means you can't track your journey. This wasn't a problem before. Very basic. Otherwise the design and functionality is fine. Just needs improvement of the accuracy and reliability of these features.
Used to be Great
This app used to be amazing. I say that I have a rail card even when I don't and have never had to provide evidence of owning one. This means I'm always able to get the cheaper tickets. However for some reason I am no longer able to get the e-tickets which would often make it a lot easier for me going through a busy station. Any information as to why I can no longer get this feature would be great.
This is still a must have app for train travel
