Transformations is designed for high school mathematics teachers and students to provide interactive teaching and learning tools for the four types of geometric transformations:
Interactive diagrams and built in interactive tests make this an essential app for teachers of mathematics and for students who are studying or revising for their high school mathematics qualification.
Minor bug fixes and improvements.
Ratings and Reviews
A really super app. Difficult to visualise ideas are helped by the flexibility of this app. There's loads of scope to try 'what if . . .' situations. It's all there: simple, colourful, appealing and instructive. If you teach Mathematics or if you are learning about Transformations then this app is a must for you.
Alternative to tracing paper
Easy and teaches the basics. Used with GCSE pupils and they liked it. Worth £0.79 in my opinion.
Great app to grasp transformations
Strong recommendation! I got this for my 10 year old daughter to practice the different transformations and have since shown it to a few teachers who really liked it too. The interface is nice and simple (therefore not too overwhelming for beginners) and it does two things: firstly it gives learners a chance to explore the different transformations in a straightforward way, in effect 'playing' to see what they do, secondly it offers them 10 practice questions to see if they can work out what the transformation would be with feedback.
Teachers could use his to teach via a projector and children to practice/experiment.
For older learners who have understood transformations and need to do more complicated work I would recommend an app called Geometry Pad.
Could it be improved? The questions are not staggered in difficulty (for example the first reflection question is on a diagonal mirror line and the second question is easier) which I imagine the developer could easily correct along with adding an additional set of questions maybe (easy/medium/hard?) It would then be a pretty perfect app!
I'm just off to try Graeme's Circle Theorem app now....
