MoneySavingExpert.com’s totally free TravelMoneyMax app compares over 40 bureaux to find you the cheapest currency AND has a unique personalised currency calculator once you’re away to show your exact rate each day (and which card/cash to use to cut the cost).
You can use it before you travel
Search bureaux and currencies to find your cheapest rate, and even filter by which bureaux are closest to you if you want to pick up.
You can use it while you’re away
Simply store any cards or exchanged cash you’ve got. Then when you want to buy something, use the app as a foreign exchange calculator to get a bespoke cost for that day for each way you want to pay - it shows you which is cheapest including all charges (best to connect via Wi-fi for latest rates when abroad or you may get costly data roaming charges. If you don’t update you’ll be given the rate from your last update).

Good but has faults
For finding the best right on local currency exchange, you cannot fault this app.
However when doing a comparison of using a credit card versus cash abroad, this app gives extremely incorrect information.
Rates not updated
Exchange rates have not been updated for weeks. What is the pint in using this app if it does not return accurate information.
