Ratings and Reviews
We have come to rely on Trip Advisor for many years as our go to site for advice on all things ‘holiday’ .
Many years ago I booked a Nile cruise (which was fantastic) and stay holiday with the ‘stay’ being in a ‘4’ star Hotel in Hurghada. (I don’t remember the name of it) I booked and paid for the holiday before I read any reviews and when I did read them on Trip Adviser I was appalled by what I read about it. The reviews were absolutely right, it was a beautiful hotel but the area was horrid, the food was aimed for Russians above anyone else and no one at all spoke English in the hotel but they all spoke German and Russian. We’d paid All Inclusive but after the first evening we ate out every day. We learned a valuable lesson by that and since then Trip Advisor has been our ‘bible’ when it comes to choosing our holiday destinations. Don’t get me wrong, we can tell the ‘moaners for the sake of moaning to get compo’ reviews which we’ve learned to read between the lines of but other than that the experiences of like minded travellers are greatly appreciated when looking for our next adventure. I also try my best to give honest reviews of places we visit and hope our experiences good and bad are as much of a help to others. So thank you Trip Adviser, we don’t know how we’d ever cope without your wealth of knowledge and wherever possible we won’t ever book another holiday without checking with you first.
I have been using this app for 2 years now. It is a really useful app to have to know where to go and not to go. As I have walked into some not particular good establishment and had a really bad experience. But one thing that I have noticed which is bit of a shame. Is that there is a lot of bad feed back on all of establishments where an individual has only left one review. To know the good from the bad is very useful. But does seem a bit unfair on a really good establishment which has a lot of good reviews are ending up with a couple of negative customers leaving bad reviews over something which isn’t the establishments fault or is actually something quite minor which has been blown heavily out of proportion. I think a slight clear up is in order. I think all the reviews where an individual has made all of one review over the past three years and has not made no more contributions to the tripadvisor since should be removed. If a customer has written quite a lot of reviews over the years and have left one bad review, fair enough I respect there review. But one customer over the past 2/3 years visits one establishment, leaves a really bad snotty nose review and that’s it. I personally should be taken down, so people can see reviews that people have contributed who have contributed to numerous of places over the years.
Enjoyable and worthwhile trip
Despite the disappointing weather, Jordan kept our spirits up with engaging and informative commentary throughout the day with a specifically tailored playlist to entertain us. A nice touch was coffee and delicious cake after the early start. There was so much more to the trip than the 12 Apostles including our lunchtime stop at the Koala cafe for a welcome lunch and drink and seeing lots of wildlife including koalas close up in the trees and very friendly king parrots. We thoroughly enjoyed our walks through the rain forest as well as those at Loch Ard Gorge and Gibson’s Steps. The weather even picked up and the sun broke out and remained with us as we reached the 12 Apostles and for the rest of the trip.
Lots of washroom stops and opportunities to buy drinks, snacks ice cream and even tea.
Jordan was the perfect guide - knowledgable, funny and friendly keeping things interesting with entertaining stories and excellent information about the history, geology and wildlife. We were lucky enough to see an echidna as we left the coast road on our return home and a wedge tailed eagle as well as lots of different birds which helped the long journey back pass quickly.
