First you ring O2 to complain about poor signal on your new iphone so then they suggest this app to you, which sounds great, "your calls will come through your wifi", then you try and register your phone which means receiving a tx, but the whole point is you've got no signal so the tx won't come through! Then the app locks you out because it can only send 3 txs a day (to register your phone). A complete waste of time, can't comment on whether this works after your registered because cant get that far, poor poor concept
12 months in... Phone gets confused if you have low signal (doesn't know whether to use tugo or not) so you miss the call, if it goes to tugo it only rings once (so you miss the call) when sending or receiving txs, sending: the receiving party doesn't receive (until you get a good signal then they go through at once hours later... Receiving: no tone or message until you open the app then you see notifications, same with phone calls, no sign that you've had 10 missed calls til you open the app.
A frustrating necessary evil (using tugo) being tied into a 24 mth contract with 02 and their signal being temperamental, and that's without mentioning the nonsense with the app when you have no wifi and everything (txs especially) come through twice, and why not able to send pic messages? Two words sh ite
Great idea, poor delivery
Have had this app about a month now, took me ages to be able to get it as I have a business contract and it's only just been released for business contracts. I have so far found it very poor, the first issue is notifications. I have all the settings on that should allow me to be notified but I very often miss calls and am not notified, I go on the app by change and am then told I've missed a call I knew nothing about. Even when I get notified the process of answering can be quite lengthy and I often miss the call and have to ring back. Second issue is connectivity, I have a bt hub 5 and super fast broadband, I don't expect it can be my internet causing the problem but most times I'm making a phone call it lasts 3 mins then cuts out and I have to ring back again, had to make 3 calls to have a 12 minute conversation earlier. I really do love the concept of this app, living somewhere that O2's coverage is poor means that having a phone is rather pointless, this app should change that. Unfortunately with my experience so far it leads me to think that when my contract renewal is up I may just switch to a network with better coverage. I hope the faults with this app get ironed out because it really is a great idea that could be ever so useful.
Nearly but not quite
Not that either O2 or TuGo will be listening but this is still unfinished It is useful alternative if you have no Wi-Fi, but you're unable to open the app in time to answer a call. This effectively renders the app useless. The only advantage is that at least you know you had a phone call; you're able to phone someone back and explain to them that you have an app that works off Wi-Fi which is why you were unable to answer the call in the first place. Because the app doesn't work in conjunction with the phone you also get voicemail and text messages appear on your phone once you're in a good signal area; pointless duplication. I'm not bothered if I have to pay a little something to TuGo but just make the thing work properly like a phone so I can actually make and receive calls. Occasionally it fails to connect to Wi-Fi properly when phoning somebody they reply saying hello hello hello and you are unable to hear them. Or you can't hear them but they can hear you muttering gibberish, which can be embarrassing if talking to a client. Plus a few technical issues.
