O2 TU Go
By TELEFONICA DIGITAL LIMITED
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
*Currently TU Go is available for Movistar customers in Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Mexico, O2 customers in the United Kingdom, and Vivo customers in Brazil.
Text. Call. Check your voicemail. All without a bar of signal. As long as you’ve got Wi-Fi, TU Go keeps you connected. TU Go is available for O2 UK Business and Pay Monthly customers.
To answer calls from the locked screen on iPhone, swipe left when the notification appears and press “Answer”.
TU Go lets you use your O2 minutes and texts over Wi-Fi, on up to ten devices. So next time your phone runs out of battery, you can’t find signal or you’re soaking up the sun abroad, don’t panic. You can still use the minutes and texts from your O2 Bundle.
Who can use TU Go?
- O2 UK Pay Monthly customers
- O2 UK Business customers (excluding Mobex, some B4B and data only tariffs)
- Movistar customers in Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Mexico
- Vivo customers in Brazil
The best bits:
• Stay in touch – choose between your mobile network, Wi-Fi or 3G/4G. And keep connected, wherever you are.
• Travel friendly – use TU Go over Wi-Fi abroad and your minutes and texts will cost the same as they do in the UK.
Here’s what some of our customers have to say about TU Go:
“Thank you O2! The ability to call and text people while I'm on the London Underground with no signal is epic and has had a few people asking me questions on how it works!” – Imhama
“I am currently traveling in South America so this app is saving me large amounts of money... Thanks O2 you are allowing me to keep in touch when I normally couldn't have afforded it…” – Rob Ericsson
“I thought this sounded too good to be true, but it isn't! It does exactly what I want it to. In Wi-Fi only areas, I can make & receive calls, also texts. It works on my iPad as well! Which is more than could be said of WhatsApp!” – Chris_G_Devizes
You can get TU Go on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on iOS 7 and above later in Argentina, Peru and Colombia***.

Not good enough
I've been using the app for several years because I get a poor signal at home but good service everywhere else. A few things I wish they'd hurry up and change are as follows: 1) why can't you block a number in this app?? I block spam caller numbers in my phones contacts but not only does TUgo ignore your phone settings but it doesn't even have a block function within the app. 2) I want to be able to choose for my calls to default to TUgo - your calls and texts only come via TUgo when you have ZERO service, I don't want to have to keep saying to people, hang on I'll call you back through the Internet 🙄. 3) why can't you answer calls when your phone is locked?! When your phone rings through TUgo, you have to unlock your phone, go into the app and then answer it, by which time the caller has rung off because (guess what!) you can't set how long the app will ring for before it diverts to voicemail.
All in all, it just about serves a purpose and I put up with it instead of being completely cut off when at home but, I really wish O2 would take the development of this app seriously given it is their recommended solution if you call them regarding poor phone signal... such a shame because this could be such a fantastic app.
TU App, no probs so!
I downloaded this app out of curiosity really, I have a mark one ipad mini and a basic nokia form. For my age (32) I'm not a tech mad geek that has to have the best of everything, I just need stuff that works, low cost and cheap.
This app records the txts you send and receive from your phone no problem aswell as records when calls are made and recieved. Its easy enough to use on my ipad aswell! Just now I have made a call using the app and whilst on hold I was using safari, the app happily makes phone calls and sits in the background.
For a free app thats tied into my mobile phone contract, its a very usefull tool. I'll never replace my mobile phone but this is a very handy back up to your phone if you have wifi
Good to a point
Okay so maybe O2 should start reading these reviews and do something about this app. If you use SMS then the message string is replicated on TuGo in order. However, that doesn't apply when using TuGo. Sent messages don't appear in SMS so it all gets out of synch. Incoming calls, if you manage to actually connect at all, are interspersed by buzzes that increase in frequency the longer in the call (I have a 50mb fibre connection) until the call just drops out. VOIP ain't exactly new. It should work. No message sound at all. Not even configurable.
It has lots of potential if O2 read these issues and actually do something about them.
Better than nothing at all. Even better if O2 made signal booster boxes for the consumer market. Oh, and fixed mast issues faster.
