Much worse now
I suspect the makers are trying to slowly turn this into a different beast with this latest “upgrade”. But as a quick TV guide it is much less useful now.
As many have said, it now opens to a confusing and largely useless front screen. When you move to the program grid (the reason it’s used) it always gives you a heads up of a film starting soon on Sky Movies. Might be of interest to some, but on my iPad the large movie bit, the new tagged bit and thick time/date bar pushes the actual grid down into the lowest quarter of the screen. So it opens virtually uselessly.
Annoyingly, if you quickly choose the grid on opening, when you close the full page advert that comes up (it has to be payed for somehow) then you’re taken back to the useless home screen again.
So, to get to the program grid, it’s open/choose the grid tab/wait for the grid, then the ad to load/close ad/rechoose the grid tab/push the grid up so you can see more than BBC1 and ITV. THEN you can use it.
Can it PLEASE open with a full window grid??
The screen is forever freezing whenever you try and scroll through the channels programmes. Otherwise it would be the best TV listing app.
It has slowly got worse over time, as I have had it on my iPhone first page for about 6 years, as it was much better when more simple. Now takes ages to load and freezes even more frequently as time goes on.
Additionally It now opens to a useless page I don’t want, instead of the channel list like before.
Another case of smartarse programmers screwing up things, as they try to show how clever they are, by adding and changing things until the “recipe” is ruined.
Have these morons never heard of the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”??????
These computer people are like little children, that have to keep fiddling around with something, until they finally BREAK it!!!!
The app has a good style and layout, but it’s the same old story of frequent updates ruining it!!!!!
I don’t mind the ads as a FREE app has to generate income. However it’s now too frustrating to use, due to very regular frequent freezing of the screen, which has never EVER been properly eradicated.
I have given them SIX years to fix the screen freezing and crashes and still no success, so I have finally deleted it.
Using the FREEVIEW app now.
It has yet to freeze on me after a week.
This TV Guide one did, every TEN minutes!!!!!!!!!!
Now very annoying and pretty useless
Used to be a handy little app where I could instantly see a grid of what's on my preferred channels and when. Now you have to wait ages for the confusing and useless front page to open, then wait a while for the ad to appear, then click (usually twice at least as the first one or two don't work) to get rid of the ad, then even if you've gone to slither screen before the ad, you get taken back to the confusing and useless front page, then you can choose the grid. When it finally opens you have to click on a programme to actually see what time it starts - and the only way to find out how long it's on for is to come out if it and click on the next programme after it to see what time that one starts!!! Utterly useless, I've just deleted it and gone for one that's actually user friendly and easily and clearly tells me what's on and when.
