What's New in Version 2.8.9
- Fixed icon gloss on iOS 6
- Bug fixes
Doesn't live up to its description - support is lacking too
I bought this app last year and have had a number of problems with it since. I've contacted Tweetbot support on a number of occasions but received no response.
My problems with the app are:
- The mute keywords or hashtags function doesn't work on the iPad app. If I want keywords or hashtags to be muted on the iPad app I have to do it via the iPhone version of the app and then the iPad app recognises the muting.
- Random tweets refuse to appear in my timeline in the iPad version of the app. I've confirmed that there is no reason for the missing tweets not to appear i.e. they don't contain muted keywords, muted hashtags, or blocked/muted users. The random tweets just don't appear in Tweetbot but do appear in other Twitter apps.
- The 'report problems' button on the app doesn't function.
I've given up using this app, it was a waste of money.
Where Is The Update for iPad Users?
As others have said, Tweetbot for iPad is a superb Twitter client, but seems to have been abandoned by the developers, who'd rather focus on the iPhone version.
Right now, Tweetbot for iPad can't support tweets with multiple images attached, or animated gifs - both staples of Twitter these days.
We've paid for this app, so at the very least, the developers should have the good manners to at least formally announce the end of its development and/or support, rather than leave paying customers wondering what's going on.
Put simply: THIS KIND OF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE MAKES PEOPLE NOT WANT TO BUY YOUR OTHER PRODUCTS.
So if all you care about is lining your pockets, even THAT ought to be enough motivation to do something about this situation.
Great but now feels abandoned
Tweetbot is probably the best Twitter client on any platform, at least on the iPhone. The iPad version hasn't received an overhaul since iOS 6 and with iOS 8 launching within days, this app is more or less abandon-ware. This is a great shame and I hope there are plans to address this. Charging for each version of the app (iPhone, iPad and Mac), unlike Twitterifc for example, should ensure that each version is kept up to date and not completely overlooked.
