A great Twitter client but looking a bit long in the tooth these days
Great, use it all the time and it syncs (via TweetMarker) with Tweetbot for iOS. I wish it would auto-scroll and select the last read tweet on launch instead of leaving the 'selection focus' somewhere further down your time-line, meaning that you cannot use the keyboard to navigate through your new tweets until you manually re-position the selection focus on latest unread tweet using the mouse. Very annoying… I have reported this issue to the developers multiple times but it keeps going unfixed.
Could do with a major refresh for Yosemite and UI.
Tweetbot is a great Twitter client & arguably the best out there.
The look is getting a little tired and a makeover is long over due. If you can wait out its ulgy face, this is the Twitter Client for you.
Good if it was maintained
Tweetbot used to be the best Twitter client for Mac when it came out and was well worth the price. It’s still a well thought-out client, particularly if you have multiple accounts, it looks great (perhaps less if you’re on Yosemite) and it’s easy to use.
But it’s a shame it’s never received the maintenance it deserved, compared to the iOS versions. Critical UI bugs related to scrolling have been repeatedly reported by several users and never fixed, making it often unusable without a restart. An update was released last week, claiming to finally “implement” support for GIF and videos hosted on Twitter —10 months after it’s been launched— but it doesn’t even work properly (only thumbnails now show up, but clicking on them actually opens the tweet in your browser???).
The latest changelog claims the 2.x version is coming, and so I’m hoping that it will fix these issues and update its look for Yosemite, but considering that Tapbot has done almost no visible maintenance on the 1.x version to quickly remain compatible with new Twitter features and fix bugs present since the very beginning, I’m really hoping they will have the decency of making it a free upgrade. Once burned twice shy etc, I’m not paying another £20 for something that looks nice at the beginning then remains buggy and takes months to catch up with the API changes for 3 years.
