The UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) is used in the selection process by a consortium of 26 UK University Medical and Dental Schools.
The Official UKCAT Practice App is a free preparation resource which allows you to familiarise yourself with the question styles in each subtest and can be used in addition to the fully timed practice tests on the UKCAT website www.ukcat.ac.uk to help you prepare thoroughly for your test.
The app includes new questions for the Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Decision Analysis and Situational Judgement subtests which you can choose to practise in two different test styles.
At the end of each practice session you can review your answers along with a rationale explaining the correct answer. You can also share your results with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
The app also works offline so you can use it when you are out and about or have no signal.
What's New in Version 1.1
- Backwards compatibility support for iOS 5.x devices
- Improvements for social integration
- Fixes stability issues on retrograde OS'.
It's good to keep you practising for example on the bus whilst waiting etc. The downside to this app however is it gets too predictable after you have been on it a couple of times especially with the abstract reasoning section. My advice, use this but you need to get a book or use Internet practise tests as well, just use this as an aid :).
It's ok for "on the go" practice, but quite hard to use on the iPad because it isn't full screen!
Also not many questions to practice on!
But has individual subject quizzes which is good.
Despite having this app, I still needed books etc for proper practice
Slow and limited
Loading times are too slow for this app, and the randomly selected questions often repeat exactly the same question during a practice session! There are no questions here not already available in the booklet provided on the ukcat website. The calculator provided is not the same as that given in the test. Don't bother with this, find a proper computer to use and take the practice tests on the UKCAT website instead.
