Ultimate Running Races
I received the book as a Christmas gift but came to learn of this app through Twitter. Much as I like the book, the app has some very clear advantages.
Firstly insofar as searches of races are concerned, the book contains a country index, a category index and a general index. However users of the app are additionally able to search for races by month and by distance.
Secondly, the app has the advantage of allowing users to identify their favourite races as well as recording times for races completed. The only caveat I would to this comment is the fact that the user only seems to be able to record one time against one race. In other words, it does not appear to allow a user to record two or more times for the completion of the same race on different occasions.
Thirdly, the maps and the links to official race websites are extremely useful.
This is a great app and well worth the money.
I love running
Really good app. Started going to the local 5k Parkrun a year ago after an achilles rupture and I now have the running bug, doing my first 10k next month. This app gives me an idea of what runs I might be doing a year from now. It confirms what I love about running, strikes me it's a friendly community with as much competitiveness as you want to take out of it, for me this helps me discover what's possible, I can mark the runs that interest me and get lost thinking I might one day do this or that race.
Also, am liking how I can save what times I've done a race in.
Good selection of races
A good collection of runs that can be browsed by several categories. Unfortunately, in most cases, the categories return a lot of results. I'd like to filter results by more than one category, for example, off-road marathons in June. At present I can find either off-road races or marathons or races in June.
A small feature improvement would be to see my completed runs and the times I did them in a tidy list. It takes several taps to get to the time I ran for a particular race. It's also not currently possible to record more than one time for a race, if I happen to have run it more than once.
I would add an additional star to my rating for each of these items.
