Exceptional for the price…
I came across this app just the other day on the internet and liked what I heard from the samples online.
I currently own a Yamaha CP1 Stage Piano so have an exceptionally good sound and weighted keys anyway but I really do like the sound of this app. For the price it is exceptionally good and is nice to have a Steinway sound in my arsenal as well as the Yamaha Grand Piano sounds that are installed on the CP1.
The only reason I took one star off was due to if I play very soft and with the pedal on I was tending to get slight crackles and pops with the audio. I'm sending the audio out through the optical port on my MacBook Pro to a Yamaha O3D so not too sure what the problem is here. As soon as I play firmer / louder though the crackles go away so seems to be a build up in the softer range of playing.
Other than this the app is absolutely fantastic with a stunning sound to boot. Love having the key release sound and especially the pedal sound.
Setup was simple - load the app!! :-)
One feature missing
This is a nice little app that saves me having to load up a proper sequencer. The piano sound is of a very high quality.
The only feature that I'd say it is missing is the ability to turn up the amount of release on the note. When it said "release volume" in the features I thought it meant the amount of release on the note, but it's actually more like the volume of the sound of the keys being released
While you can control the length of the note/release if you have a pedal on your keyboard or piano. there is no way to make the notes last longer without a pedal.
Sometime it also sounds distorted when being controlled via my midi piano
Bottom line is there should be a control to make the notes last longer
Hype yeah? No this is the real deal. Georgeous sounds with good setup options. 3 years ago I could afford to have a punt at £21 (uk) and not worry about it but not these days, I like many people have got to think about it ... hard. No regrets. My M-Audio 61es never sounded so good and has made me want to stop just vamping around and really learn how to play this thing. I'll never own a grand piano let alone a room big enough to put it in, but this lets me dream.
