Each character class offers a finely tuned balance of abilities to suit different play styles, whether you’re taking down turrets, amassing gold or confronting the enemy head-on. Thanks to a slew of updates—from new characters and modes to a game-changing season structure—Vainglory has only got better since its release.
Playing since release
I’ve been playing the game for nigh on five years now (on and off). I don’t know what people are on about when they say it’s buggy as I’ve very rarely encountered such issues. The matchmaking is great as (generally) is the hero balancing, but they regularly update heroes to create new “metas”, or best heroes/class types so no hero will remain the best for long. Don’t expect to walk into this game and be amazing right away. Like any decent MOBA it takes time, practice and brainpower. This season I hope to push into the top 100 players in Europe and can assure you that if you work at learning the game properly, it will just keep you coming back again and again. Having said that, the only frustrating thing is that occasionally you have to enter multiple matchmaking’s before you actually get into a game because someone AFKs or something. There have been measures put in place to counteract this but I still think that more needs to be done, although I’m not sure what! I also love the fact that the game is not pay to win at all. As I said, I’m looking to push into the top 100 EU this season and I have never paid into this game! There are skins etc. that you CAN buy with bought currency but these can also be obtained without buying anything, just much more slowly.
Really quite brilliant
Been playing for a few days now. I have to say this game is quite a wonder. I don’t know if it’s the art style, the ease of use with a great deal of depth behind the mechanics or simply how fun it is. There are a few mobas out there and this is one of the best I have played and which has an obvious amount of time and effort put into making it.
I will say I wish there was more than one map for the different game types. Having said that the match lengths (usually between 10-20 mins with quicker modes available) and ease of use (once you get used to the touch and go controls) make this a game to pass 20-60 minutes with which lends it a self very well to mobile gaming.
With daily rewards as well as rewards for levelling up, completing challenges and a chest every other hour I didn’t feel forced to buy anything. The ingame store is there if you want it and I have myself bought a two fancy skins but there is no paywall at all unless you want spend some change on a new hero to save you a few days of rewards. Though there are chests which are RNG if you want a hero, or a skin, these are available outside of these chests in store available to purchase with either currency earner in game or a credit card.
This game is quite charming, as well as free, so what’s the harm in trying it out. (Also I just got a 24/2 KD with Alpha! So chuffed, just wanted to share)
