Description

The app combines highly accurate weather forecast for your location with a 3D map showing development of weather in a broader area in a very interesting way. This allows you to see where precipitation is going to come from or where the wind is blowing from. The uniqueness of the app comes from the amount of data displayed. Forecast of weather, precipitation, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, snow cover and other meteorological data for different altitudes is available for the whole world.

WIND ANIMATION
The Ventusky application solves weather displaying in an interesting way. Wind is displayed using streamlines which clearly portray the continuous development of weather. Airflow on Earth is always in motion and the streamlines depict this motion in an amazing way. This makes the interconnection of all atmospheric phenomena obvious.

WEATHER FORECAST
Weather forecast for the first three days is available in the app in one-hour steps. For other days, it’s available in three-hour steps. Users can also look up sunrise and sunrise times in a given place or air quality.

WEATHER MODELS
Thanks to the Ventusky application, visitors get data directly from the numerical models that, just a few years ago, were used solely by meteorologists. The app collects data from the most accurate numerical models. Besides the well-known data from the American GFS and HRRR models, it also displays data from the Canadian GEM model and the German ICON model, which is unique thanks to its high resolution for the whole world. Two models, EURAD and USRAD, are based on current radar and satellite readings. These models are able to show precisely current precipitation in US and Europe.

WEATHER FRONTS
You can also display weather fronts. We have created a neural network that predicts the positions of cold, warm, occluded, and stationary fronts based on data from weather models. This algorithm is unique, and we are the first on the world who makes global fronts forecast available to users.

Oh Doh ,

You can easily be better than Michael Fish with this.

Remember poor Michael who got the weather forecast wrong just before some of the most severe gale the UK had ever experienced? He should have used this App and then he would not have ended up remembered for one of the biggest blunders ever. I just love using weather Apps, they are terrific when deciding whether or not to go to my allotments, to know what weather you are facing on journeys or simply planning ahead. To be honest, I prefer using the Apps to media broadcasts. Ventusky is one of the best two I have - indeed in many respects, the best. I would echo other reviewers comments about keys for the colours....they are not essential to enjoy the App maps but would be a beneficial addition. If you have some background knowledge of weather, enjoy knowing and predicting it, this App for a meagre £2.99 is terrific value.

Thank you for your great review. I am glad to hear that. We are planning more features.

So close to perfection

I have been waiting for a weather app like this for ages. One that combines slick animations with reliable data. However, i’m desperate for the developers to implement two key features. Firstly, the app desperately needs a quick way to change the forecast to the current date and time. I constantly find myself browsing the week ahead but then then there’s no way quick way to go back to the current forecast. Secondly, it would be incredible if there could be a little information bubble on the map (over the location selected) that displays nice large text with information about the metric selected on the map for the current date/time at that location. At the moment your eyes are forced to jump up and down to read the forecast at the bottom whilst viewing the visualisation on the map - Im aware that the map does have the relevant metric written at regular intervals on the map already, but the text is tiny and its often not written directly by the location selected.

Thank you for your review and suggestions. Your first problem is already solved in the app. You can click on the small button right next to play button above timeline - this button change time to current.

Great all in one App but clouds are hard to see

I work as a photographer outdoors and use a small set of App’s to get the forecast I need. I do like this App a lot, it has a good interface, lots of options - which could be improved with an option for buttons to quickly job between favourites type of info, or a swipe across screen.

There is one big issue though and I can’t find anywhere in the App to report it to the developers or support and that is the cloud rendering. It’s impossible to tell if your looking at land/sea or cloud! I’d guess clouds are white so it probably is the light grey colour, but again it could be the moody light blue. PLEASE can we either have more contrast, different colours - land green, sea blue and clouds white would be very obvious. Or a slider to change the opacity of the clouds. As a very basic function it’s falls down on this big time. Meaning I have to switch to another App that does it well. Actually none a very good but with the basics that you have here with a colour tweak it would be the best.

If the developers can respond and fix this I’m back up to a five star rating! Thank you.

UPDATE: Thanks for the explanation, it helps but I don’t see any numbers showing opacity of the cloud in the app on my iPhone Max. I tried to send you an email with screen grab compared to your web app which looks much better and different to my app but no email to contact you is listed.

Developer Response ,

Hi, thank you for your review. Cloud scale is from blue as a clear sky to white as a overcast. You can always see the exact values on the map and understand what to expect without using color scale. You can contact us on info@ventusky.com.
