Unbelievably Good, One Major Flaw
An outstanding achievement of game design, a rare gem of a game that does not rely on violence (however "fantasy" this violence might be) or destruction, but on creativity and research. Growing various types of alien flora is a profoundly peaceful, emotional, and tremendously interesting, engaging activity, and the vast assortment of characteristics or capabilities a plant may have contributes a great deal to the depth of the game, making it a unique, enjoyable experience.
Nevertheless, the impression is all but destroyed by the cheap, tawdry, crudely cut out photos intended to represent the protagonist and his female associate. However charismatic the models might be, they look extremely ordinary, totally out of place and effectively break the immersive atmosphere of the game every single moment the portraits are displayed (which is pretty much all the time).
The game itself deserves the highest rating possible, six out of five, yet the character portraits spoil it so much that I am tempted to reduce the rating to three. I think that the game would improve a great deal if those photos are removed, or if an option to disable them is made available in the game settings.
