App controls the WeMo Switch and WeMo Motion.
The iPhone home remote. Control stuff in your home – from anywhere.
Belkin’s new WeMo system is a family of simple, ingenious products that use your iPhone and your home Wi-Fi® network to connect you to the things and people you love. WeMo is your home at your fingertips.
WeMo can control just about anything.
With WeMo you can turn on a light from another room, or turn it off from across town. You can put your home on a schedule—living room lights go on in the evening, kids’ TV goes off at bedtime. You can check to make sure you turned the iron off, after you’ve already left. WeMo Switch is the iPhone home remote.
The Complete WeMo System.
The WeMo App runs on your iPhone and controls any electronic device you plug into a WeMo Switch—if you can plug it in, you can turn it on or off with WeMo. And WeMo Motion lets you control the devices when motion is detected. Have the floor lamp go on when you enter the living room, and turn off when you leave.
WeMo Switch and WeMo Motion are available at major retailers.
The WeMo family of products is great at automating repetitive tasks, and at allowing you to control your household in ways you’d never thought possible.
The beauty of WeMo is it’s completely modular. You can control as much or as little of your home as you like. Control one light, one room, or the whole house. There’s no limit to what WeMo can do. If you can think of it, you can probably do it with WeMo. WeMo is your home at your fingertips.

Dreadful app and poor implementation
The switches are quite neat and work well-when the app can find them. I've had two working for a while so purchased a third. Installed that one and then one of the first two disappeared. Then tried to reset the wifi on the new one after all upgrading the firmware and all the switches disappeared. So tried reinstalling the app and now all it does is try to show me a tutorial. The irony is using a simple network scanning app, I can see all three switches. Just this useless app can't find them! (Plus it's still iPhone only instead of being a universal app which is just lazy). Off to reset ALL three switches to their factory settings - but I can guarantee I won't buy another one - then I'd have to reset four!
Problem is it relies on setting on Belkin's servers that you can't see and can't clear. So even when all are factory reset and the app. Reinstalled, it still remembers some settings when you start to set up again. Plus discovery on the LAN is very flaky - the switches no longer show up as UPnP (most of the time)
FINALLY works again
January update: After several months this is finally working again - WeMo is fantastic when it works, but they obviously don't check their updates thoroughly enough before releasing them. I had intended to give wemo switches etc as Christmas gifts, but the updates have been so unreliable in recent months that I couldn't. Maybe next Christmas - if Belkin has indeed finally sorted out the update fiasco.
Latest update still hasn't fixed the problems caused by November's update.
This app used to be good until they ruined it with the last update. I can no longer control any of my switches from my phone making the expensive switches useless.
WeMo/Siri integration needed
With more manufactures getting on the home automation bandwagon, we need WeMo to have integration into Apple's Home Kit to allow operations via Siri, as others have done.
Not only would this open up greater market appeal, but also add to the functionality of this great product to those persons that have a visual impairment or limited dexterity.
As it stands, the latest version of the app is super quick and reliable; all we need is a little more thought and integration into the operating system to fully exploit this product and it's features.
