It’s good but still a bit of a way to go
I have had some hiccups since using my card. I think you can now use the card anywhere in the world which is a bonus. My first use in Peru saw my card retained in the cash point as the currency was not supported. Bad start to my travels. Since then I’ve used it in Australia and I am currently in NZ. Beware of loading your card by using the app. Several times I have had a problem with this. Two times it has loaded twice for my single request. This obviously affects your current account balance. The money goes to load instantly but takes 3-5 days to get back. I now only ever load by bank transfer and I advise anyone do the same. Weswap not having a 24 hour worldwide telephone support line is a big problem to me. This issue needs resolving above all else and as soon as possible. The email support is generally excellent but sometimes you wait a few days for a reply. This is not good when £1000 has loaded twice!!!
Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are really sorry you had trouble using the card. It looks like you tried to use the card in Peru before we supported Global Spending. We are now supporting this feature so next time you plan to travel to a country where we don't support the official currency, all you have to do is leave the funds in your home wallet and every transaction will occur using the Mastercard rate and a 2% instant fee. With regards to loading, deep apologies for the trouble in the double loads. It seems as you may have loaded when we had an outage which caused the data to duplicate itself leading to double loads. We are looking at solving this very soon. If you contact us on the same day that the double load is made, it is possible to have the transaction released on the same day but this may vary between banks. We are looking at having a 24 hour customer service or help desk and we will release more details on this very soon. Once again apologies for the trouble and thank you for the feedback. I’m still new to the app and I’m writing this review based solely off of their resolution process, in relation to what I experienced as a typical “human error” and their prompt response in resolving this. I opted for the 7 day loading of funds for the lowest rate of 1% which I then completely messed up by pressing the “complete transaction now” option and paying a whole 2% for the immediate available funds which I was gutted about (I found it slightly misleading) I notified them of my mistake via the in-app support function and within 3hrs I had a reply with the option to refund the extra 1% which in my eyes has now been made right and I’m surprised at the efficiency of the process - thanks guys!
Happy customer for several years now
There have been a few hiccups but I wouldn’t be without my WeSwap card. If I’m going abroad I change up smaller amounts of currency when the rates are favourable so I’ve generally saved most of my spending money by the time I go - been a great strategy with the falling pound. Or I change it up just as I need it when I’m abroad so I don’t bring unneeded currency home. I check exchange rates to make sure they’re still competitive and they are. I’m not sure when I get fees for swapping but i would drive me away if the implied FX rate worsened. Transparency and simple pricing is very important. I’ve used it all round the world. My only hassle now is if a currency is not covered.
