In the old days man tried to catch a glimpse of the future in the strangest of ways.
Experience the ancient Swedish phenomena of year walking through a different kind of first person adventure that blurs the line between two and three dimensions as well as reality and the supernatural.
Venture out into the dark woods where strange creatures roam, on a vision quest set in 19th century Sweden. Solve cryptic puzzles, touch and listen in your search to foresee the future and finally discover if your loved one will love you back.
Mysteries and clues await everywhere in Year Walk, but to fully understand the events that took place on that cold New Year's Eve, you will have to delve deeper than the adventure and lose yourself between fact and fiction.
For the complete Year Walk experience, or if you're curious about the folk lore on which Year Walk is based, we recommend downloading Year Walk Companion, available for free on the App Store.

This is a brave and truly original work"
Edge - 9/10
"Elegant and artful, Year Walk is an unmissable piece of work.
You can close the app and put down the phone, but the forest may spread beyond its glassy confines, its spindly, silver-skinned trees taking root in your own home, your own dreams."

A very different game
I loved this game. It is very atmospheric, particularly with the sound on. It is not easy so you do need to think and possibly use some walkthrough help at times. I found inside the tree was my most difficult area.
I really enjoyed using the companion (free) app and learning about the folklore and characters you meet. The twist at the end is clever and you need to let the credits roll before you can access that .
It is quite a creepy game at times and possibly not for young children.
I think it is well worth the money and certainly makes you think in order to play the game and also about the stories from which it stemmed. I recommend it highly.
Haunting and mesmerising
I not into gaming apps - In the past I've downloaded a few and quickly lost interest. I'm also not a 'reviewer' - this is first review I've written.
That should say something about how much this app grabbed me. Downloaded whilst preparing for another flight, it captivated me, frightened me and haunted me for days afterwards. It's intuitive to play and forces you to be instinctive (there are no menu functions or instructions) and that's all part of the plan to keep you guessing.
And it's frightening. In an eerie, atmospheric way and (occasionally) in a jump out of your skin and drop your iPad way as well.
At its heart it's based on solving puzzles and these can be tricky. I'd advise anyone to keep a pen and paper handy. At times these were frustrating - but that's part of the beauty of it - I so desperately wanted to know the outcome I persevered where I might have given up on other games. The story behind the game is fascinating and I have to say, the last section of the game blew me away.
If you like something a bit different, get this game. Just incredible.
Very off but definitely interesting
I downloaded this game after I was intrigued by its beauty when a Swedish gamer called pewdiepie had played it. It's exactly my kind of game, I love the style, the music and the reason behind it as I am very into folklore myself. Definitely found the background of the creatures interesting and got slightly worried at what I was reading in the companion, sparked a lot of interest in me and nightmares.
Good scares throughout, the huldra got me good! Very beautifully created and kudos to Simogo for going into real depth and recreating folklore in a game which can very rarely be pulled off. A little too short, but hey what game isn't when you're enjoying it.
I have played this countless times and am happy with what I purchased. Definitely made me look into Scandinavian folklore a lot more since I hadn't taken it into account earlier on, but found it interesting. I hope they do another game similar to this with another country's folklore maybe? Folklore always has a scary edge to it, with rituals and so on.
Thanks Simogo for a wonderful game!
