Yubo : Make new friends 17+

So I downloaded this app because I felt lonely in my life and I needed a girlfriend so I make an account and I don’t want to fake my age so I would be allowed on it so when it asks for my date of birth I put in my true age and then it lets me proceed. By this time I already loved the app. I then found it really easy to use and there’s no complicated buttons or anything confusing it was just really easy to figure out how to use and then I found someone who lived in the UK and I thought it was a miracle but little did I know that nearly every person popped up was near me. I found loads of people who are my age, gay and accessible as in I could arrange plans for the next day and I could see them. It’s an absolutely great app and I would totally recommend downloading this if you need a friend or a little bit of romance!!! It’s absolutely amazing!!

For an app that allows you to meet new people, this one is fantastic! I have little to criticise this app for in terms of negative qualities - but that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t issues there. For example, the tag feature is a way of showing your interests in order to have a better chance of meeting more like-minded individuals. But other than that, it’s just a display option. I still have to swipe for hours to find someone remotely interesting. Maybe some development on the Yubo algorithm could be used? I’d definitely find this app more enjoyable if the algorithm showed me people that actually share the same tags as me.

Another small gripe I have is the Livestream naming system. I can name my live something completely mundane like “Night Vibes” and it gets removed? I have to keep typing it again and again or change the name completely to get my live to keep the name i’ve set for it. It’s not a major issue but it can be a little irritating.

Other than that! This app is fantastic! I have made lots of long-term friends on here local and long-distance and we’re all planning to go away this summer! The UI is friendly and I love the different categories for livestreams that Yubo has to offer! Please keep up the good work! <3

I had yubo for about a month, then out of nowhere my account got locked. It said to unlock with another app called yoti. I got yoti and scanned my face. I then clicked the button to verify so I could unlock and it said I had to take a picture of either my passport, driving licence or citizencard. I only have a passport but I feel incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of them having my passport information. Even if yubo is trustworthy (which at this point I doubt due to them seeming to want a lot of ur info) then it isn’t rlly that safe to just put ur personal information on an app like this incase of data breaches. I deleted my account and made a new one, but then a day later the same happened. I repeated this again and again with each time getting less time on the app. I tried deleting the app and redownloading , no change. I tried using a different phone number, no change. Yubo is a decent app if you just look at its content. But it’s practice of forcing people to give personal information (and forcing people to have their face) totally ruins the app. I would not recommend. In fact I intend to warn against the app until their practices change. Also as a result of this dumb id rule I am not able to contact people I considered friends, and am limited to joining lives by my friend calling me on discord on a separate device. Would no recommend, do not download.
