The best mobile game I’ve played
This is by far the best mobile I’ve played, if you like Yugioh then this the game to get (duel generation doesn’t get supported and has a much smaller player base). The duels are in speed format with 20-30 card decks which I believe is better for this type of game as they don’t go on too long. The smaller deck size is also more friendly to those who haven’t played yugioh before and aren’t quite sure of the best ways to build a deck.
Great variety of cards and up until recently a quite well balanced metagame, however this will be sorted when the next ban list comes out so it’s a non-issue.
If you’re looking to get into an OCG that is very f2p friendly(compared to other mobile games) and great fun, this is definitely the one for you. On top of that, this game has a very active online community where new players can get all the information they need when they start.
Not what is used to be...
I’ve been playing this game for little over and year and at first it was fantastic. I enjoyed building my deck and collecting cards. But so is the tread of many modern free to play economy. Konami has begun to reduce the reward and methods for earning in-game currency and continuously release new cards which “break” the PVP making one feel they must obtain those card to be competitive and spending money on countless packs in hope of obtaining a certain card. As the game as matured it has become more apparent that the in game model is being restructured to ensure that “grinding” for the in-game currency is much difficult with Konami reduce the reward drops funnelling more users to resort to sending cash. Now I have no problem with spending cash on a free to play game I enjoy; I have done so in the past because I felt it’s a little “thank you” to the developers and it was a choice I made. But recently it doesn’t feel like a choice but you must spend your money! In conclusion I can’t recommend this game especially to a younger audience that may get slightly carried away with spending money to obtain certain cards.
Had a lot of potential.. now going downhill
I think Konami thought this game would be a quick cash grab. But it got so popular that they even introduced a World Championship for all players to participate. I’ve been here since the start and gem income was fair and consistent. I have paid a lot of money on past boxes but now no more.
Konami has intentionally nerfed gem income for F2P and they’re important to the games eco-system. They have done well to give decks in mini boxes that can compete on the ladder. But the recent gem nerf will hit them in the medium-long term. Event gems have been nerfed and it was only today I realised that they’ve nerfed character gems too (Zane L30 reward should be 300 gems but it’s just a card now). I understand that Konami wants to earn money, but it’s become more P2W as time goes on. A lot of the community is upset right now because they know this game can be on the same level as the TCG in a competitive point of view, but now it seems they want to kill it off in a way. For example, recycled events, nerfed gems and a lack of creativity to get the game to its full potential.
