Ratings and Reviews
Love it, although filters could be simpler!
The app is brilliant. Let me get that out of the way first. It’s like Pinterest but just for food. Searching for new recipes is easy, and the ability to schedule them to make at a later date is great.
My only issue is that I wish it was easier to filter food groups that I can’t eat. For example - I have had to list the many different varieties of mushrooms that I can’t eat, rather than simply adding “mushroom”, and it knowing I can’t have any of them! Similarly, I have had to list many different types of coconut - including both “shredded coconut” and “coconut shreds”… which is rather daft! And similarly with all the other foods I can’t have - I have to add EVERY variation to avoid them coming up in search results.
But, the app is still really useful - so four stars :)
Needs better filters
I love Yummly. I’ve been using it for years now, but feel constantly irritated by the app recently. I can never find what I’m looking for. It actually stops me from wanting to open it.
It’s become like ASOS, too much content and no reasonable filters.
I ought to be able to order my searches in best match/ratings/yums/no of ingredients/easy-hard or vice versa. I should be able to search for chefs/food bloggers whose recipes I have previously enjoyed.
I receive an email with recipes recommended to me. This is great. I always find something to yum and save for another day. The only problem is, the email sends you to safari and if you click on ‘open in app’ it loses the recipe. So I search the recipe using the exact title it has in my email... can I ever find it? Answer, NO!
Make things simpler like it used to be.
Just what I need
Easy to find the meals I need, and easy to add the ingredients to your shopping list. Easy to add or remove meals from your list. The easiest to use meal planner I’ve found. The only one gripe i have is when I come to print off a recipe (if someone else gets home first and wants to start the meal) i have to scroll through pages to try to find the actual recipe due to ads and reviews. I think this is the fault of the webpages the recipes are on, rather than the app. I love this app, i feel so organised now I dont have to think about what to cook when I get home from work. Will recommend.
Some low carb options would be helpful though
