Ratings and Reviews
Has kept me entertained for years
I have been through a lot of apps over the years, and of course eventually deleted them to make room for more, but I've never got rid of this one. I've used it so many times when I've been bored to just doodle and create artwork. I love it and don't think I'll ever get rid of it. I'm yet to try the second one out because this one already does everything I want in a drawing app
I love drawing with this app. I use it to draw line drawings with character and then sometimes export the images into another program to add colour. It is easy (and very enjoyable) to get a Japanese feel drawing with this app, although I use it to draw in my own style.
I now use a Wacom Creative Stylus which Zen brush works with, it has pressure sensitivity so you be more expressive.
Highly recommended. The only thing stopping a five star review is that sometimes it struggles to register that I'm trying to draw a line with the stylus, but that's surely only an update or two away.
This is a super tool for calligraphy, and emulating the brushwork of Chinese and Japanese classical painting. It offers a suitably constrained number of paints, along with a wide range of backgrounds in the classical style. Creating Zen-like paintings is great fun, as is using it to practice Oriental calligraphy. High quality, stable, responsive. I have several art apps for more general art (ArtRage probably being the best), but this is by far the best for simulating Oriental brushes. If you're interested in classical Chinese or Japanese art, you will enjoy this well-produced app.
