Ratings and Reviews
Was a 5 star app until last week.
I have used Zinio almost every day since late 2010 (on the first iPad), and it has been extremely good for most of that time - a 5 star app until this update. Losing all the previous downloads and bookmarks was a minor irritation, but you gave notice of this which was good. Sadly this update to the app is very poor compared to the last version. I have an iPad Pro, and where pages would load instantly until last week, they now load slowly in blocks until the page is complete. Some of the previous organisation options seem to have gone - there is no obvious way to group by year. Organising by publish date is not too bad (if slow), but organising by title A to Z don’t work very well, and with a seven year collection, is too slow to display.
Sorry - but I’m not happy with this update. You have fixed previous updates that seemed a brief step back; I hope you are able to fix this one soon for both speed and publication organisation ability.

Thank you for your feedback *PaulM1000*. In order to improve our service to customers we have moved to a new back end system, an essential move which allowed us to offer new features in our apps such as enhanced Text Mode optimized for mobile devices (which allows reading content using vertical scroll with article images embedded directly into the article), Night Mode and Article Search. As a one off consequence it is necessary to re-download your previously downloaded content, plus we introduced other changes. Our goal with this new app update, is to provide you with more features that you will love and a product that will remind you why you chose ZINIO to be your go-to-magazine store. Please bear with us a bit longer while our team is fine tuning the new app and rest assured that your feedback is given to our developers. If we can help you further please contact us at email@example.com quoting ref #663791. Our customer satisfaction is taken very seriously and would be happy to help you solving any problem.
Great update but loss of existing bookmarks is a HUGE mistake
I have been using ZINIO for a few years as my preferred way to read and manage magazine subscriptions. This new update looks pretty good and enhances a few features and the downloads seem to be a bit quicker.
HOWEVER ..... the fact they did not find a way to bring across all the bookmarks from the previous version is a huge loss and years of article tagging has gone. JUST GONE!!!
Why any developer would dream of deleting all your history in one fail swoop needs to be challenged. The whole point of this way of reading magazines is to be able to quickly refer back to favourite articles.
Now I have lost all my history the whole reason for using ZINIO has been wiped out in one update with no possibility to go back. And while you are at it you need to find a way to sync bookmarks across the desktop and mobile apps otherwise you are still missing a huge opportunity to give readers more than just an electronic magazine.
Will seriously consider buying direct from the publishing houses in future as some of the apps and delivery methods they offer improves on ZINIO, just means they are not consolidated in a single space.
As a new user, without any loss of history this is a pretty good app but be warned they might delete all your bookmarks with another update in the future!!

Doesn’t open at last page
A real problem with the latest update is that when I return to the app it opens at a marketing home-screen, when it should open at the last page I was reading. I have a number of subscriptions so I then have to navigate to my magazine list and remember which one I was reading last and then open it. This is incredibly annoying (and rubbish for a reading app) and if I could revert to the older app then I would. Please bring back the ‘return to last page’ functionality when the app is reopened.
I am resending the above review as it hasn’t been addressed in the last few updates and when I read a back issue of a magazine from a few years ago, it’s often impossible to find the article I was last reading as the app doesn’t return to the last page that was read. It always used to do this before, so why not now? I’ll buy direct from the publisher when my subscription runs out.

Thank you for your comments. Actually our app has been designed to remember the last page that was read once you open a magazine. If you don't see this behavior, please verify that you are in the latest version of our app. In addition to this, we want to reassure you that our developers keep working to bring app updates with new features and improvements on a monthly basis, and functions like the home screen that you mention are considered for future updates. If we can help you resolving any doubts or need further assistance, please contact our Customer Service at email@example.com referring to the Ticket #731211. We will be happy to help! Thank you and have a great week!
