ZINIO - Magazine Newsstand 17+

Was a 5 star app until last week.

I have used Zinio almost every day since late 2010 (on the first iPad), and it has been extremely good for most of that time - a 5 star app until this update. Losing all the previous downloads and bookmarks was a minor irritation, but you gave notice of this which was good. Sadly this update to the app is very poor compared to the last version. I have an iPad Pro, and where pages would load instantly until last week, they now load slowly in blocks until the page is complete. Some of the previous organisation options seem to have gone - there is no obvious way to group by year. Organising by publish date is not too bad (if slow), but organising by title A to Z don’t work very well, and with a seven year collection, is too slow to display.
Sorry - but I’m not happy with this update. You have fixed previous updates that seemed a brief step back; I hope you are able to fix this one soon for both speed and publication organisation ability.

In order to improve our service to customers we have moved to a new back end system, an essential move which allowed us to offer new features in our apps such as enhanced Text Mode optimized for mobile devices (which allows reading content using vertical scroll with article images embedded directly into the article), Night Mode and Article Search. As a one off consequence it is necessary to re-download your previously downloaded content, plus we introduced other changes. Easy to use, could be improved

Zinio offers a very easy way for me to find and subscribe to content that fits my interests which is ace. The UI is fine and content legible.
It does occasionally take a few moments for changes made via the website to register on the app but that's not a big issue for me.
The key thing to note is that each magazine displays content different with some making it easier to either focus or zoom in on the text than others. This is one area that could be improved.
I do get more email spam about other titles than I would ideally like but in fairness that must be balanced against the occasional gems available through the access to free articles and/or special offer issues which may be worthwhile depending on the breadth of one's interests.

Great app

I use this app for accessing magazines from my library. I love having access to the magazines whenever I want. I get a lot of craft magazines and it's great to be able to go through back issues at a click of a button looking for inspiration or a design I want to try.

I really like the text feature. As someone who is dyslexic but reads a lot I like being able to both clear the screen of sometimes distracting images but also being able to change the font and size. If I was being super picky it would be really cool to be able to change the background colour in this mode , making it more accessible again.
