About Ann Magnuson

Ann Magnuson was raised in West Virginia but left her roots behind when she moved to New York in the '70s and became a downtown scenester and multi-talent. She has worked as a performance artist, a writer for national magazines, a singer and lyricist in the cult rock group Bongwater, and as an actor (mostly comedic) on the stage and screen. A regular guest on television sitcoms, a series of her own, Anything but Love, coincided with her work in film. She played lead opposite John Malkovich in Susan Seidelman's Making Mr. Right (1987) and has since had minor roles in bigger films, like A Clear and Present Danger (1994), as well as in some real turkeys, like her role as an Indian goddess in Cabin Boy (1994). She's staged a series of one-woman shows for small theater and continues to record as a rock artist. ~ Denise Sullivan
