About Dead Gaze

R. Cole Furlow's Dead Gaze is a skuzzy but very poppy lo-fi band out of Mississippi. They debuted in 2010 with a handful of recordings, the last of which found them moving from their early Flaming Lips sound in a chillwave direction. Furlow kept cranking out releases, including an EP and a single, as well as a self-titled 12-track compilation of old and new songs. Furlow then headed to Oxford, Mississippi's Sweet Tea studio. Its fancy vintage equipment and large recording space gave him room to expand the Dead Gaze sound. The resulting record, Brain Holiday, was released in 2013. Furlow then outfitted a new home studio that resulted in Easy Travels, released in 2016. ~ Jason Lymangrover
