About Eddie Condon

A key figure in the 1920s Chicago jazz scene, guitarist Eddie Condon helped bring New Orleans’s Dixieland sound into the North. Although he didn’t garner many accolades as a musician himself, he served as a savvy session organizer, working with such legendary performers as Bix Beiderbecke, Gene Krupa, Louis Armstrong, and Fats Waller. While his recordings from the '20s to the '50s remain underrated, Condon is best remembered for his tireless support of jazz as a burgeoning art form.
