Falete was born in 1978 to a musical family in Sevillas, Spain; his father was a member of the group Cantores Hispalis. Falete's performances began at age 17, and he toured internationally with some of Spain's most famous musicians. The mid- to late '90s were filled with performances across Europe, the U.S., and Japan. Falete's career broke open in 2004 with the release of his first solo record, Amar Duele, an overnight success that spent 39 weeks on best-seller lists in Spain, eventually reaching gold status. In 2006 Falete collaborated on an album with Manuel Alejandro, one of the most important songwriters in modern Spanish music. The album, Puta Mentira (Damn Lie), was quite successful and marked Falete as a unique talent in Spanish music. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
