About Fes Taylor

Fes Taylor has been a fixture within the underground New York rap scene since the mid-'90s. Back then, the Harlem-born, Staten Island-bred artist was known as Profes, an MC who had developed his skills at talent shows and in battles. Signed to Black Fist Records, the rough-edged Taylor appeared on the label's greatest commercial success, King Just's Mystics of the God, which peaked within the top half of Billboard's R&B albums chart in 1995. Although he ultimately didn't headline any Black Fist releases, Taylor became one of the East Coast's more prolific rappers, with dozens of full-length titles -- mixtapes and albums -- issued over the course of the next two decades, primarily through the Chambermusik label. His discography as an affiliate and featured collaborator is extensive as well, including tracks with Inspectah Deck, Mr. Prezident, and Smif-N-Wessun's Tek. ~ Andy Kellman
