About Joe Cang

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember being 8 years old, playing guitar and singing a Chuck Berry song to a friend of my parents and feeling the exhilaration of performing + the heart opening power of singing with all my tiny mite! My voice is lower now but the love's same. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Frank Zappa, Apostrophe (') Robert Palmer, Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley Stevie Wonder, Innervisions Remastered The sheer sass, groove and perfect loosenness of Sneakin Sally remains a bench mark for me. Innervisions is a near perfect musical movie with oceanic lyrical, vocal and sonic depth. Apostrophe is freedom, width of imagination, chaos and smart anarchy Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Joni Mitchell” I wrote this for my new girl fiend and comparing the peace I felt with her to the magical, mystical effect that Jonis music has on me. A love song for 2 of my favourite people. Its a one take vocal, and the sleepy flugel horn is the cherry on top. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Meeting Clive Davis when he signed me to Arista records and seeing the huge picture of him with Sly Stone behind his desk. When he confirmed that he had signed one of my heroes, I felt that all was now possible. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Honestly, it would be to connect directly to a wider audience and maintain and develop a relationship through new songs, touring and connection.
